Friday Night Lights Shine Again!
It's football season and you know what that means! Well, actually in 2020, we don't know what that means, except that, for the moment, the Ave Maria University Gyrenes are taking to the gridiron.

Seaside surgeon-partner Dr. Brian Wallace has served as the team's head physician since 2014. So let's cheer for the Gyrenes! Wait, what is a Gyrene you ask? Gyrene is a nickname for U.S. Marines, a combination of GI and Marine. The team is so named in deference to the university's founder and chancellor Tom Monaghan, who served as a Marine. Dr. K. Awarded "Center of Excellence" Status
Since performing his first LAPIPLASTY® bunion surgery at Seaside Surgery Center just two years ago, foot and ankle specialist Dr. Evgeny Krynetskiy has achieved the “Center of Excellence” status awarded by LAPIPLASTY® originator Treace Medical Concepts, Inc. Dr. Krynetskiy is one of just two orthopedic surgeons in all of Southwest Florida to have been awarded the “Center of Excellence” designation.

“LAPIPLASTY® is the first and only procedure specifically developed to correct all 3 dimensions of a bunion deformity, at the root of the problem. Rather than cutting and shifting the metatarsal bone over as traditional 2D surgery does, LAPIPLASTY® uses advanced instrumentation to precisely reposition the entire misaligned bone back into normal 3D alignment,” explained Krynetskiy. The procedure secures the metatarsal bone at its base with patented titanium plate technology.

Benefits to the patient include a faster recovery. Most patients can put their full weight on the foot anywhere from a few hours to a few days after surgery. There is no need for a cast, the surgery site is simply bandaged, and the foot is placed in a boot. Most patients will be able to wear fashionable shoes again. Active patients can expect to return to playing sports when the bones have healed, approximately four months post-op.

To determine if you are a candidate for this innovative approach to bunion repair, request an appointment with Dr. Krynetskiy.
From the "Just for Fun" Files...
Have you ever wondered what your favorite nurse or surgeon does for fun? Every now and then the Seaside staff gets together for a little social time. We're more than just co-workers, we're a team, and we're friends in and out of the OR! We recently indulged in some fun and games during a Mexican-themed evening at the center. We partied responsibly - keeping the gathering small and limited to staff only. As for wearing masks...we found a creative use for them as Chris Perdzok and Patti Querusio spin a masked Dr. Fernandez to prep her for a swing at the piñata (creatively mounted on an IV pole!) Audrey Booher used the maracas to spice up music from Mark "Boz" Nabozny for one set, while Mark's wife Bonnie joined him to serenade the team.
