Tollgate News
Tollgate Farm 4-H Club Making Final Preparations for the County Fair!

The members of Tollgate Farm 4-H Club are preparing animal projects for the Oakland County Fair, July 6 - 15. A few are working hard on Market Animal projects. These projects are especially challenging since they involve auctioning the animal at the fair. Why do they do it?

Katherine: Market Lamb - "I am doing this to learn more about taking care of animals and working on a farm. I would also like to become a vet one day."

Susanna: Market Lamb - "I want to learn about biology and how to take care of animals.  I will use the money raised for college."

Chloe: Market Lamb - "I want to educate myself on sheep and livestock. I am also interested in a career in biology or veterinary science."

Evan: Broiler Chickens - "I am doing this because I really like animals, especially the chickens at Tollgate, and trying new things. I have learned a lot from the project. I had to research how to raise chickens, how to take care of a farm animal at home, and I have to be responsible to take good care of them."

Please consider supporting these hard-working youth by heading up to the Oakland County Fair and bidding on their animals.

Small animal auction: Oakland County Fair, Friday, July 13th, 6:30pm
Large animal auction: Oakland County Fair, Saturday, July 14th, 6:30pm
