January to June 2020: Mid-Year Report
In six months, you have helped make it possible to:
Serve 24,018 Meals
When many people lost their jobs and local schools shut down, the mission was able to stay open to continue providing meals to hungry men, women, and kids, thanks to your generous support. We have had to change the way we serve - from dine-in to carry-out - but one thing has not changed: no one will leave the mission with an empty stomach!
Provide transitional housing to 74 homeless men
You have helped our doors stay open to new residents throughout the pandemic. We are still taking men into our two transitional homes who are homeless, being released from jail, or finishing up recovery programs. We are so thankful for God's protection over them as we have not had one mission resident get sick with COVID-19!
Help 35 homeless families move into their own homes
It's tough to stay healthy at home when you are homeless. But because of your support, 35 households - 36 adults and 20 children - were able to get help at the mission finding affordable housing, paying their first month's rent, and moving into permanent housing. What a blessing!
Provide 951 men and women with critical supplies and help
Thanks to your support, we have been able to help hundreds of men, women, and children with groceries, clothing, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and more. We have had to make a lot of changes - moving our services outdoors, setting up client appointments to limit crowds, and even bringing supplies to neighbors' doorsteps so they didn't have to leave their homes -- but we are blessed to be able to help so many people during their time of need!
Graduated 58 people from Jobs for Life, and placed 77 people in employment
One of the most amazing things that has happened this year is how God has provided jobs for so many of our clients during such a difficult time. We have been blessed with business partners that have employed our residents to produce hand sanitizer, reclaim hardwood, and remodel homes. Thanks to your support, we were able to train them in employment skills both in the classroom and on the worksite, helping lay a strong foundation for their future!
Help 75 ex-offenders re-enter the community successfully
Record numbers of men and women were released from incarceration because of overcrowded jails and the risk of spreading COVID-19. At the mission, our re-entry team has been working hard to help them find shelter and housing, get IDs and jobs, stay sober, and reconnect with family. We have also had the privilege of starting a discipleship group with several of these men who wanted to study scripture and have fellowship together...even if it meant doing so from lawn chairs in our parking lot!
Lead 132 men and women in spiritual formation
Nothing can stop the Kingdom of God, including COVID-19! God has used this time to open up doors to get to know our guests on a deeper level and minister to their underlying spiritual needs.

Your generous support has made it possible to continue providing spiritual care, including outdoor chapel services, prayer ministry, pastoral counseling, and Bibles. The best part: we are seeing God working in the hearts and lives of those we serve, including one of our regular guests getting baptized a few weeks ago!
