Dear friends,
This weekend's gospel reminds us that "all things are possible for God." On our life journey, we encounter many circumstances and people that become part of our lives. These people and circumstances come into our lives for a reason. When you and I stop to pray and meditate about our life journey, we discover how God has used these people and circumstances to teach us and to help us.
At times, I like to look at my life journey and I see the faces of many beautiful people God has provided to help me in my mission and journey. I bet you have also discovered God's love and care through them.
As we see, October is running out and November is almost upon us. November is the time the Church has set aside to remember all the Faithful Departed. We will never forget those loved ones who have gone ahead of us to the Lord.
Here at St. Anthony's we would like have a tribute to all our departed loved ones. We would like to invite you to bring a small picture of your loved ones (placing behind the picture your name and phone number to contact you when the display is done). We would like to place these pictures in the altar area. Please drop off the pictures to the rectory office or sacristy.
Together with the display of pictures, we will be offering a Novena for All Souls which will start on Thursday, October 24th before the 5:30pm Mass. We will be praying this novena 5 minutes before all Masses. Also, we would like to invite you to offer a novena votive candle, the offering for the novena votive candle for $20. Please take a label and place the name of your loved one on the votive candle.
Finally, I would like to remind you of two other events happening at St. Anthony's:
- We will be hosting a Prayer Drive Thru Event on Saturday, October 19th at 12:00pm-1:00pm. This is a come as you are and stay in your car-event. Bring your intentions and we handle the rest. The anointing of the sick will be available for those who experience mental, emotional or physical sickness. Bikers, walkers and the like are invited as well.
- This year, to celebrate All Saints Day, we will be having a Saints Procession during the 10:00 Mass Sunday, November 3rd. All students in grades K-12 are invited to dress up and participate in this event. Sign up is required. Please contact Jen Rodriguez to sign up and for more information: youthgroup@stanthonys.org
With love and appreciation for each one of you,
Fr. Carlos Briceno
