Summer is in full swing, which
reminds me of our great Farmers' Markets, bursting with healthy fruits and vegetables, many locally grown.
I'm proud of Contra Costa's leadership in helping local communities access our locally grown produce.
There are so many benefits of growing and eating locally, including decreased greenhouse gas emissions and pesticide use, increased local economic activity, and improved public health and nutrition.
When you patronize these local Farmers' Markets, you not only benefit your body, but you help support local food production, which has a positive environmental impact for all of us.
Plus, it's fun to get out in the sun and meet your neighbors and local farmers!
