Food On The Move: Community In Action!

On December 17, we launched a three-month Food On The Move pilot with the City of Petersburg, serving over 400 families with a week’s worth of groceries just before Christmas. City leaders and volunteers worked side by side to help families stock their shelves—an incredible start to this new partnership.

We’re also deeply grateful to Journey Christian Church for stepping up during the government shutdown, hosting three additional distributions on top of their regular schedule. Our Chester location also added extra distributions, made possible by the many volunteers who faithfully served.

Motel Outreach: Little Hands, Big Hearts

This Thanksgiving, our Motel Outreach Program was part of serving over 800 meals to neighbors living in motels along Route 1—meeting families right where they are with food, care, and encouragement.

A special thank-you goes to Mrs. Christie Archer of Matoaca Elementary School, who launched the Little Hands, Big Hearts project. Students in grades 2–5 from Matoaca Elementary and Ettrick Elementary School wrote letters, drew pictures, and assembled treat bags filled with donated candy. Their hard work resulted in over 400 bags, each one handed out during our Thanksgiving motel outreach.

These simple acts of kindness made a lasting impact—and reminded our neighbors that they are seen, valued, and loved.
