'A WILTED ORCHID'
This week, I give you a story of cheating told through the representation of an orchid. This is actually a poetic rewrite of a much longer story I wrote a few years ago. A story of the pain that is hidden beneath smiles and indebted forgiveness. I encourage you to stand up for who you are and to stand for your truth, because you are worth it. I present to you, "A Wilted Orchid."

This week I continue with another story from Guatemala. This time I will be talking about my experience in one of the prettiest McDonalds that I have ever been to. The service, quality, and venue of this location can be compared to an exclusive restaurant, but it isn't. This fast food restaurant offers you a different type of dining unlike others.

This upcoming week, I am encouraging everyone to tap into their kindness. The focus is: ‘All time can be “me time.”’ Our days are packed to the max with responsibilities and tasks and that can tend to get overwhelming at times. It is all too familiar to feel that we do not have nearly enough time for ourselves in our over-scheduled lives. Let's talk about "me time."

SWIPE OUT HUNGER
STUDENTS IN NEED CAN GET FREE MEALS
Through a cooperative effort by Student Government and University Dining (Sodexo) students facing food insecurity can now apply for "Swipe Out Hunger." Joining a national initiative, the program provides donated meal swipes at the University Dining Center to students in need.

CAR SMASH ENERGIZES SPIRIT MONTH
Fall 2020 certainly will be one for the books. This week's Car Smash during Spirit Month offers a way to vent frustrations, smash something and walk away feeling energized. At least it worked for Megan Maxey, Gary Windthorp, Tommy Kucera and Carter Aguilera.

KEEPING PROMISES PART OF 2020 U-LEAD
A new four-night format will be part of the Seventh Annual U-Lead Conference on Oct. 19-22. Nightly sessions will be at 7 and 8 p.m. Highlighting the 2020 conference will be Tuesday, Oct. 20, keynote address by Alex Sheen, founder and CEO of "Because I Said I Would."


LAW ENFORCEMENT REVIEW
PROGRAM LOOKS AT CURRICULUM REVISION
Dr. Pat Nelson, chairman of the Department of Government and program director for Law Enforcement, offers an in-depth look at efforts to revise the Law Enforcement curriculum. The effort is part of an initiative looking at law enforcement, corrections and criminal justice. A series of public sessions are set this month as efforts continue.
