Mentor Procedure Accepted into National Women’s Leadership Program | |
We're incredibly proud to share that Mentor Procedure Chikosi was recently welcomed to the winter cohort for the YETT Young Women Leadership Program, which designs programs to promote the meaningful participation of young women in development processes.
Procedure, who heads Girls Time Club in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, told us a bit about her time in the program so far: "It’s been a great experience for me as l have got an opportunity to meet other young ladies from all around Zimbabwe, and we are sharing information and best practices in community work and learning more about how we can make the most impact. I really am grateful for such an opportunity."

Driving Transformation: Boys Club Alumnus Tutors Girls in Academic Pursuits | |
It is small, but significant moments like these that represent the positive social change our clubs are nurturing. In traditionally patriarchal societies in Southern Africa, girls’ academic pursuits have largely been considered secondary. Not anymore at Wayi Wayi Girls and Boys clubs in Livingstone, Zambia. We're excited about the journey of a group of determined girls who have come together to support each other's academic growth and have enlisted the assistance of Edward, an alumnus of the Wayi Wayi Boys Club, who performed well in STEM projects they identified as challenges. They have committed to a study group, meeting to revise before every club gathering this quarter.
When asked about volunteering his time, Edward said; “I love being a blessing to girls, even words can be a form of helping them academically and in other areas. Girls are disadvantaged in a lot of areas; I just want to be a hand that will help lift them."

We’ll hear the inspiring story of Believe Club alumna Evelyn, whose journey transcended overwhelming odds to be trained as a teacher and assigned full-time to a remote community where she plans to start a girls club. And we’ll hear from Ratidzai, an alumna of Girls Time Club in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, who is now a scholarship student in North India! She’s said GSGC’s support made all the difference.

Tikobane Mentor Featured in “Unsung Heroes” Documentary | |
We're thrilled to share a short documentary film featuring Mentor Ndlelende Ncube of Tikobane Girls and Boys Cubs in Dete, Zimbabwe. Funded and created by Wild Africa Fund and Daily Maverick, the five-minute film explores the challenges and opportunities of living in and near wildlife areas. A focus on the importance of engaging and inspiring youth, and GSGC clubs are featured as a path to living with dignity and in harmony with the natural world. | |
