MMS DIFFERENCE

Mountaineer Montessori School is pleased to announce that it has earned the distinction of "American Montessori Society School Accreditation Candidate."

MMS was recently notified that it has been officially accepted into the accreditation cycle, a process that provides guidance, empowerment, and high ideals to help schools implement and sustain the rigorous standards of quality Montessori education.

Accreditation by the American Montessori Society is the "gold standard" of Montessori school excellence—the highest level of recognition a Montessori school can achieve. Currently, about 15 percent of member schools are AMS-accredited.

AMS is recognized by the National Council for Private School Accreditation, a national organization that serves as a review panel for the standards and review procedures of private school accrediting agencies. Every school that is accredited by AMS gains automatic recognition by NCPSA.

“We are proud to have achieved this milestone,” said Director Jennifer Carriger.

COMINGS & GOINGS

With five weeks of school completed, this school year is off to a great start. We do want to remind everyone of our arrival and dismissal times.

Arrival is from 8:00-8:15 a.m. Classes begin at 8:15 a.m., and we cannot emphasize enough the importance of on time arrival for children. Late arrival is disruptive to the classroom and uncomfortable for the child as they will miss important instructions, community meetings, and lessons. If you arrive after the arrival team has gone inside, you will need to sign in your child at the office. This is for both campuses.

Dismissal times are 11:45 a.m.-12:00 noon and 2:45-3:00 p.m. for regular school and 4:15-4:30 p.m. and 5:15-5:30 p.m. for Plus. It is important that children are picked up on time so staff members can finish the day's work and get ready for the next day. If students are not picked up on time, there will be a charge of $25 for the first 15 minutes after the end of the dismissal time and an additional $25 if more than 15 minutes late.

We regard the safety of your children as our primary concern, and we, as a result, need our Plus staff to be able to watch your children both in the classroom and on the playground. For this reason, we are reminding parents that we are unable to accommodate late pickups during Plus.
