The Saskatchewan Municipal Peer Network is looking for two elected officials to become mentors
The mentors serve a two-year term and may be reappointed by their associations for a subsequent term.
Mentors share their knowledge with those accessing the service to help resolve complex issues or conflicts. They listen to issues, act as a sounding board, provide advice toward raising issues more publicly, and give suggestions on how to handle issues based on their past experiences. They can also refer peers to any known additional resources. Types of calls mentors receive may be related to relationships, public input, and disagreements. The conversations they have are all confidential.
Mentors do not provide conflict dispute resolution nor are they mediators or arbitrators. They are also not intended to replace Municipal Advisors who provide technical advice.
Please contact sarm@sarm.ca if you're interested in becoming a mentor.

Livestock Welfare During Prairie Summers
We’re in for another hot summer. While livestock animals can generally tolerate warm temperatures, here are a few things to consider when the temperature rises:
- Signs of heat stress include open-mouth panting, laboured breathing, drooling or frothing around the mouth.
- Ensure animals have access to shaded or sheltered areas that provide relief from direct sunlight.
- Ensure animals have unlimited access to a fresh, clean water source.
-
Water requirements for livestock animals will be higher during warmer temperatures. It is important to frequently check your water sources for any signs of algae growth. Free water testing is available to producers. Reach out to your local livestock and feed extension specialist to learn more or call the Agriculture Knowledge Centre at 1-866-457-2377.
