Inaugural Project SEARCH Class Graduates with 100% Employment Success!
|
On May 17, 2018, we had a lot to celebrate with the graduation of seven extraordinary interns from our inaugural Project SEARCH site at Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center!
After nine months of rotations in groundskeeping, food service, facilities' maintenance, human resources, and customer service, we are proud to announce that all seven are gainfully employed and thriving by Publix Super Markets, Walt Disney World, Lowe's Home Improvement, Marriott Hotels and Resorts, Universal Studios, and the Hyatt Hotel.
"On a national level, Project SEARCH has an 80% employment placement average, so this accomplishment in our inaugural year is extraordinary," said Jeannie Martin, Skills Trainer at Project SEARCH Gaylord Palms. "We certainly could not have done it without our phenomenal partners at the Osceola County Public School District, the incredible mentors at the Gaylord Palms Resort, and our generous funders from The Able Trust."
Due to the success of our initial Project SEARCH site, Bishop Grady Villas will be expanding to two more sites in Seminole County beginning in August 2018 - Florida Hospital, Altamonte Springs and Hilton Hotel, Altamonte Springs.

Thanks to the ardent championship of our our supporters, donors, and friends, Bishop Grady Villas has raised more than $100,000 in support of fulfilling ALF ratification bill, SB 7028 requiring that all assisted living facilities install a back-up power source with enough fuel to power 96 hours of air conditioning at 80 degrees Farenheit to critical living areas by December 31, 2018.
In addition to more than $20,000 raised in donations by individuals, Bishop Grady Villas also received generous grants from Dr. Phillips Charities, the Diocese of Orlando's Shepherd's Fund, and Catholic Charities of Central Florida.

On April 6, 2018, more than 200 people attended Bishop Grady Villas' tenth annual Achieving Their Dreams fundraising breakfast, one of our signature special events to help raise money and awareness of our mission and vision.
Thanks to our Table Captains, donors, friends, staff, and volunteers, this special event raised more than $50,000 to help support our residential, vocational, and employment programs.
"Bishop Grady Villas is truly blessed to continue to merit the generosity and kindness of our benefactors, friends, and volunteers," said Kevin Johnson, Executive Director. "Personal philanthropy plays a crucial role in allowing us to continue to provide the support, care, and services to those we serve from throughout Central Florida."
