Giving an overview of the organisation, its current and future plans, will be Harrogate BID deputy chair, Richard Wheeldon, and the new Harrogate BID manager, Matthew Chapman.

Co-Lab: New Workspace for Digital Businesses
Work has started on the development of Co-Lab, a new digital business ‘incubator’ in Harrogate town centre.
 
A £500,000 refurbishment programme at Springfield House, on the convention centre site, will see the creation of a
high-quality, flexible working environment.

With attention to design and business needs, this vibrant
workspace will suit individuals and small businesses in the tech, digital and media industries.
 
Incorporating meeting and event space and a business support hub, for workshops, advice and training, Co-Lab looks forward to welcoming new and growing businesses from Autumn 2021.

Brexit Support Fund for Businesses: 30 June Deadline
The SME Brexit Support Fund offers grants to businesses looking to trade with the EU.

Supporting businesses as they use new customs, rules of origin and VAT rules, the Fund offers up to £2,000 for training or advice on import/export, customs and software systems.
 
Small and medium-sized business that are new to trading with the EU are encouraged to check for eligibility, and apply by 30 June.

Coronavirus Grants for Businesses: 13 June Deadline
Has your business been severely impacted by the coronavirus restrictions?

Grant funding is available for eligible local businesses, from phase four of the council's Additional Restrictions Grant scheme (ARG) .

The scheme supports eligible businesses in the most impacted sectors, and recognises the costs they face in operating safely when reopening.

Eligible businesses must operate wholly or mainly within the following sectors or their supply chain: non-essential retail, hospitality, leisure and events, tourist accommodation and personal care. The deadline for phase four ARG applications is 13 June.

(Business receiving or eligible for the national Restart grant are not eligible for the ARG.)

Businesses Invited to Join the Harrogate Climate Action Festival
This October sees the first Climate Action Festival in Harrogate, featuring the Towards Net Zero Business event.

Local businesses are invited to join guest speakers and exhibitors in exhibiting, speaking or sponsoring at the Festival and Net Zero event.

With a focus on energy, transport and land use, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, local businesses of all sectors and sizes are encouraged to share their success and ideas, and get involved.

Raise Your Business Profile: 10 June
Could you do more to raise your profile through social media?

That's the focus of a free, online event for businesses on 10 June.

Provided by the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, with Greenborough Management Ltd, the workshop will help businesses raise their profile through the use of social media.

Business.connected – New Digital Skills Programme
Enterprise Nation and Vodaphone have launched business.connected, an online training programme to help businesses increase their digital capabilities, adopt new technology, and stay safe online.
 
Consisting of workshops, webinars and e-learning modules, the free initiative looks at digital marketing strategies, online trading and cyber security.

New, Start Up Loans for Creative Industries
Creative England has partnered with the British Business Bank, to offer loan funding to creative industries.

The new government-backed Start Up Loans provide borrowing of up to £25,000 at a fixed interest rate, repayable over 1 to 5 years. 

Open to businesses across the creative sector, from young practitioners and experienced freelancers, the Start Up Loans include 12 months of post-investment mentoring support.

New Vaccine Toolkit for Employers
A new toolkit for employers has been launched by the Department of Health, to help employees get reliable information about COVID-19 vaccines.

Businesses are invited to access the toolkit for materials to run awareness campaigns, and promote the benefits of vaccination.

Featuring posters, fact sheets and videos, the toolkit is part of the the government's nationwide activity to continue to lift lockdown.
