“I love this medal. It’s a great stepping stone for the [Platinum Performance/USEF] Talent Search. The first phase is a nice start to calm your nerves a bit. The gymnastics phase is really fun and was definitely my favorite part. This was my first year doing it. I really loved the opportunity, and I loved the format of the class.” Read more.
Emma Reichow Catch Rides to Victory in the 2019 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals- West
Congratulations to Zone 10 rider Emma Reichow (Harley Brown Equestrian, trainer) on her win in the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals- West!

Emma rode Campitello 5 (Highpoint Farm, LLC, owner) through the first phases of the competition which include a flat phase, gymnastic phase, and jumping phase. Despite being on an unfamiliar horse, Emma continued to improve her ranking through the various phases and jumped from sixth place to fourth place. For the final phase, the top four riders start on equal footing and ride each other’s horses over a shortened course. Joined by Grace McReynolds (Harriet Bunker, trainer) from Colorado and Zone 10 riders Parker Cliff (Jill Humphrey, trainer) and Skylar Wireman (Lisa Halterman/Shane Wireman, trainers), Emma had to prove herself amidst stiff competition. Her versatility in the ring, having catch rode many horses in jumper, equitation, and hunter arenas, proved vital as she came from behind to earn the championship.

Grace placed second with Parker and Skylar earning third and fourth, respectively. All of the top four demonstrated top notch riding and we congratulate them and all of our Zone 10 riders who participated in the Talent Search Finals!

As the saying goes, “form follows function.” Correct equitation comes from safe and effective riding in the hunt field. Check out Bill Scheibel’s great form over a natural brush and rail in this equitation class held on the outside course at the 1971 Millbrook Horse Show.
