October Zone 10 Update
Year-end championships are in full swing and we are proud of our riders representing Zone 10 all over the United States. From home in California and Nevada to Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Kentucky, Zone 10 riders have been getting great ribbons in all levels of competition. Check out some of our members' tremendous accomplishments around the country in this month's newsletter. As November approaches, we look forward to more exciting year-end finals, as well as EAP and HQC Nationals in Ohio. Best of luck to all of our riders!

Sophie Simpson Dazzles in 2018 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals West
Congratulations to Zone 10 rider Sophie Simpson on her win in the USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals West! Sophie rode Henri HX (Sloan Lindemann-Barnett, owner) through the first phases of the competition which include a flat phase, gymnastic phase, and jumping phase.

Sophie earned top marks and had the lead going into the final phase, where the top four competitors each start with a score of 0 and ride each other’s horses over a shortened course. Joined by Austin Krawitt from Canada and Zone 10 riders Kaitlyn Lovingfoss and Jake Wasson, Sophie had to prove herself amidst stiff competition. She rose to the challenge and earned the win with her excellent riding aboard the other rider’s horses.

Great job, Sophie, and congratulations to all of our Zone 10 riders who participated in the Talent Search Finals West! Read more.

Zone 10 Member Highlight: Brooke Mostman

Brooke Mostman of Calabasas, California, has had a great year in the show ring and continued to impress at her first indoor show in Pennsylvania.

“It was such an incredible achievement to qualify for the 3’3” Junior Hunters in Harrisburg,” Brooke shared. “My trainer wanted me to get some experience indoors so we thought it was a great time to go back east.”

The Pennsylvania National Horse Show features stiff competition and Brooke was thrilled to earn a blue ribbon in the 3’3” Junior Hunters Under Saddle class with her horse Skywalker.

“Winning the class came as a huge surprise to me! I was hoping to come back from indoors with a ribbon, so to come home with a blue ribbon was really exciting,” Brooke recounted. “For me, it was such a cool experience meeting all these new people from around the world. It was a lot of fun and I hope to go back next year!”

Skywalker has been a great partner for Brooke, and she is proud of the progress they have made together.

“I got him a year ago when he was 6. He could barely steer and I was just entering the 3’3” divisions,” Brooke explained. “He’s very sweet and I love him a lot.”

Brooke is looking forward to competing again with Skywalker at the National Horse Show in Kentucky at the end of October.
