USHJA Recognized Riding Academy Spotlight
We heard from Susan Deal with Grovespring Farm LLC, a USHJA Recognized Riding Academy in Culpeper, Virginia.

Tell us about your program and who you serve.
Grovespring Farm offers riding lessons to people of all ages year round. In spring/summer we go to local hunter and jumper shows and the occasional rated show. In fall/winter we go riding to hounds. With miles of ride out, our rolling fields, woods, streams and varying-sized jumps offer opportunities to ride over uneven terrain. The horses/ponies love it as do the students.

What made you want to become a Recognized Riding Academy?
Grovespring uses the American system of forward riding to teach students and train horses. We offer a horsemanship course using the USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge study guide. Becoming recognized gives us a credential for what we do.

Tell us about your star lesson horse and why he/she is the best lesson horse around.
Picking one is difficult as each has his specialty. 'Buddy' is a lunge line star; 'Alice' is the best walk-trot pony; 'Inspector Gadget' teaches students to canter and he's the perfect first show and hunt pony. When the hunt field gallops away, Gadget will happily keep up or walk along with his rider if asked. 'Copper' keeps his adults safe--in the ring, field, and riding to hounds.
