Sport History: Fun Facts from the USHJA Wheeler Museum!
Getting to Know EAP Clinician Cynthia Hankins

Cynthia Hankins, one of this summer’s clinicians at the Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund/USHJA Emerging Athletes Program Regional Training Sessions, is widely recognized for winning the AHSA Medal finals in 1977 and for her national and international success with jumpers. Did you know that Cynthia’s winning record in the show ring started at a much earlier age? Cynthia took top prize in Leadline at Devon two times, at ages three and four. Her first Medal class win came at age 12 on a 13.2 1/2 hand pony, and she qualified for the Medal and ASPCA Maclay finals that year, finishing fifth in the Maclay. Cynthia’s story was featured in ”Equitation: A Foundation for Life” at the USHJA Wheeler Museum.

The Pensacola Hunter Jumper Association, founded in 1973, has transitioned board leadership and horse show production to Georgia-based horse show company, Horse Show Ventures, LLC.

The long term plan for the organization is to focus on local equestrian needs while connecting with national organizations, such as the United States Hunter Jumper Association and the United States Equestrian Federation to offer educational benefits, classes and awards to local equestrians and foster community engagement and support.
