Mark your calendar for the USHJA Zone 4 Pony Challenge and the Horse & Pony Handling Clinic with Oliver Brown
June 18 at Georgia International Horse Park.
The one-round challenge, judged by Anne Keenan, is designed to help prepare for USEF Pony Finals. There will also be a Horse & Pony Handling Master Class Clinic with Oliver Brown.

Congratulations to riders and teams from our zone who competed at the IHSA National Championships May 3-6 at Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg!
Savannah College of Art and Design earned the Reserve Champion title in the Collegiate Cup competition and the
College of Charleston tied for eighth place! Special congratulations to the following champions:
- Carol Hayes, University of Florida, Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation Individual
- Molly Murtha, University of Central Florida, Novice Equitation on the Flat Individual
- Brady Martino, SCAD, Novice Equitation on the Flat Team
- Adam Edgar, SCAD, Open Equitation on the Flat Team

The answer to last month's Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Quick Quiz was "
camped out," because it is not a flaw that can be found on a horse's front legs.
Seventy-nine percent of our members who answered the question got it correct!
Camped out is when the hind legs are set behind the plumb line that runs from the point of the buttock through the point of the hock, down the back of the cannon bone and to the back of the heel bulbs. The other choices, pigeon toed and club footed, were flaws that can be found on a horse's front legs.

Interscholastic Equestrian Association National Finals April 20-22 at New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse! The following were national champions:
- Jared Hersh, Carriage Hill Farms, Future Novice Over Fences Cross Rails and Future Novice on the Flat Team Final
- Susannah Johnson, Creekside Farm, Future Intermediate on the Flat Individual Final
- Olivia Johnson, Bramasole, Junior Varsity Novice on the Flat Team Final

The USHJA Zone 4 Committee created Handy Hunter Challenges to test the skills riders and their horses might use during an enjoyable day of foxhunting combining the elements of flat and over-fences classes. Here are the Handy Hunter Challenges coming up in Zone 4 next month:
- June 13-17, Memphis in May II, Children's and Adult Amateur Handy Hunter and Children's Handy Hunter Pony
- June 20-24: Atlanta Summer Classic I, Children's Handy Hunter Pony
