Lauren Bardill on Being Confident

"The MOHJO Jumper Classic always used to intimidate me due to the fence height at 2'9". Before I started riding Dixie, I never felt like I could trust a horse so much as I can now with her.

Dixie (JC: Purr Yadda) is my best friend of two years, but I knew her when she used to race at a local racetrack in southern Illinois.

She helped me bring home the 1st place ribbon in the MOHJO Jumper Classic among other awards at the recent MOHJO-rated Bridlespur Horse Show on June 7-9. The Bridlespur horse show is one of largest schooling shows in the area and always draws a big, fun crowd!

Dixie is a one in a million horse, I am so glad to be her partner in crime."

Getting to Know EAP Clinician Cynthia Hankins

Cynthia Hankins, one of this summer’s clinicians at the Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund/USHJA Emerging Athletes Program Regional Training Sessions, is widely recognized for winning the AHSA Medal finals in 1977 and for her national and international success with jumpers. Did you know that Cynthia’s winning record in the show ring started at a much earlier age? Cynthia took top prize in Leadline at Devon two times, at ages three and four. Her first Medal class win came at age 12 on a 13.2 1/2 hand pony, and she qualified for the Medal and ASPCA Maclay finals that year, finishing fifth in the Maclay. Cynthia’s story was featured in ”Equitation: A Foundation for Life” at the USHJA Wheeler Museum.
