Congratulations to our HQC Stable Challenge Winner!
The USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Stable Challenge wrapped up July 15.

To participate, at least three junior and/or amateur students per trainer had to take the online Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Practice Quiz between June 15 and July 15.. At the end of the 30-day challenge, the three top scores under each trainer were averaged to provide an overall score and the highest scoring trainer per zone is the winner.

Congratulations to Zone 9's winner, Makenzie Harvey and Timberline Farms!

The highest scoring trainer in each USHJA zone wins a unique trainer-inspired award package designed to benefit the entire barn, which includes a gift card from Nutrena, a Shapley's gift set, a one-year USHJA membership, a free 2022 Recognized Riding Academy membership and additional awards from USHJA sponsors. The highest scoring trainer overall will also receive an Essex Classics shirt.

USHJA Recognized Riding Academy Spotlight: Belmore Equestrian
We heard from Connie Riker with Belmore Equestrian, a USHJA Recognized Riding Academy in Rochester, Washington.

Tell us a little about your program and who you serve.
Belmore Equestrian is a lesson program serving students of all ages in Thurston, Lewis, Grays Harbor, Mason and Pierce Counties. We are a complete horsemanship program providing instruction in horse knowledge and care as well as riding. We have 30 horses of all sorts of sizes and breeds in the program in addition to those horses owned by some of our students.

Belmore Equestrian also provides the instruction program for Time With Tails A Nonprofit Corporation that works with at-risk youth to teach life skills. The youth benefiting from this program may come from the foster care or juvenile justice program, low income or military families, have health challenges or other qualifying criteria.

Briefly tell us about your star lesson horse and why he/she is the best lesson horse around!
We have quite a few star lesson horses that are well loved. At this moment I would say the stand out is Obi-Wan. Obi is a 15h appaloosa who can do the very beginner lessons or the more advanced riders. He adapts to the rider's needs and meets their skill level. Obi is patient and kind, easy for the kids to catch, groom and tack up, as well as ride. Definitely a barn favorite!
