School Bus Changes Are Coming

Starting in this fall, Blue Bird (a popular school bus company) will require that all of their school buses have lap and shoulder belts for all seats.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has pushed for this to happen in all school buses since 2015. Blue Bird is the first company to agree with this recommendation and take steps to make these changes on their buses.

Blue Bird also has plans to put frontal air bags in the driver's steering wheel in 2025. Right now, it is not required that school buses have these air bags installed.

Don't Forget to Check for Vehicle Recalls

Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) are always encouraging families to register their child's car seat or booster seat, so they will know if it is ever recalled. But did you know it's important to check for recalls on your vehicle?

Sometimes, your vehicle can have a recall that directly affects your child's seat, like the lower anchors or tether anchors.

You can check your vehicle for recalls by visiting www.nhtsa.gov/recalls.
