UPCOMING PROGRAMS & EVENTS
Fall Lantern Walk | Nov 1 | 5:30-7:30 pm
Celebrate the end of day light saving time and the change of seasons with a twilight walk around our native Florida campus. Create a lantern and enjoy a bonfire with S'mores. This is a FREE event! We provide lantern supplies with the suggested donation of $5.
Lagoon Academy Homeschool
Starting November 3rd, classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 11:30am for small groups of 10 students with one instructor.

Students will become lagoon survivors by learning how to desalinate water, practice navigation skills, study animal tracks, tie knots, and put their skills to the test on a canoe trip. Join our growing community of homeschoolers that love to #getoutside and learn in nature!
Golden Sands Beach Cleanup #2
November 21st from 9 to 11am at Golden Sands Beach. Help pick up trash and clean the beach for our #NOAAPlanetStewards project!

Thanks to our generous sponsor Target Vero Beach, the first 20 people to register will receive a reusable water bottle! Snacks and drinks from Target will also be provided at the cleanup.
Captain Hiram's River Triathlon Challenge
November 22nd at Captain Hiram's Resort. Race starts at 7:30 am and after party at 10 am.

The ELC is one of three beneficiaries of this race! Help us show our support by volunteering to help with everything from packet stuffing to road support and everything in between. Contact Nancy if you plan to volunteer.
Magical Mangroves Holiday Event!
We are giving our newsletter subscribes a head start on booking your quick canoe trip through our magical mangrove forest for this year's adapted Wintergreen Night Lights event! Book your spot before they are gone!
SUPPORTING OUR MISSION
Donor Appreciation - Thank You Tim Buhl
The ELC could not continue to educate, inspire and empower our community without the generosity of our donors! This month we would like to highlight the hard work, generosity, and long term support of Tim and Carol Buhl.

New exhibit at the ELC

The ELC Citizen Science Walk just got an upgrade through our new partnership with Chronolog, an international citizen science project creating time-lapse videos of ecosystems. Visit the ELC and take a walk to George's Perch to help us develop our time-lapse of our Indian River Lagoon mangrove forest!
LOOKING BACK ON LAST MONTH
ARTober was a great success! Our Meet and Greet event on October 24th hosted 150 guests who came to enjoy the nature and art of the ELC.

If you missed our event you can still support our Artist Series through the Lisa Rose Art Auction! Your purchase of a painting supports the ELC.
The ELC joined partner organizations and over 70 community members to participate in the 35th annual International Coastal Cleanup.

We removed over 200 pounds of debris from the Wabasso beach and causeway! See what was the main culprit of trash...
IRGT accepting talent entries!
This county wide talent contest is open to all ages! The deadline for entry is January 15, 2021. There is still time to show off your talent through this community event.
Meet the Team - Kenny Kinchen
Kenny joined our team in November of 2018. He was born and raised in Vero Beach and visited our campus on school field trips numerous times. Kenny grew up boating and fishing in the Indian River with his family. When he wasn’t doing that he was outdoors hunting with his father or playing sports with his friends. These days he spends his free time with his wife Janet and his son Mathew and also enjoys playing disc golf and bowling.

At the ELC Kenny is our Membership and Data Manager. He is responsible for maintaining all of our various databases and systems, processing gifts and acknowledgements, reporting metrics and managing all of our memberships. Currently he is administering a database conversion and will continue to leverage new technology to improve user experience and efficiency.
Our mission is to educate, inspire and empower all people to be active stewards of the environment and their own well-being.
