2018 Commonwealth Games Recap
Women's National Team
The 2018 Commonwealth Games were a resounding success for the Canadian Women's National Team. Although their medal hopes were not realised, their fifth place finish in Gold Coast, Australia was the best result in Canadian Women's field hockey history at the Commonwealth Games.
Team Canada finished the round robin with a 1-1-2 record, including a tie with New Zealand who went on to win the gold medal. They defeated South Africa 3-1 in the 5/6th placing match to secure their historic result. Kaitlyn Williams, the Canadian goalkeeper from White Rock, BC was lights out throughout the tournament, allowing only three goals in five games.

Men's National Team
The Canadian Men's field hockey team had a difficult showing at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, coming out with an eighth place finish.
With one win and three losses in the round robin, they played Pakistan for the 7/8th placing match. After taking a 1-0 lead into the second half, Pakistan scored three unanswered goals in the second half to take 7th place with a 3-1 final.
While it was not the result they had hoped for, Team Canada is confident that with a few key adjustments, they can improve their performance for upcoming International competition. They will look to make these changes in preparation for the World Cup, their next major International event which will take place in December 2018.
