OMAN AIR TO FLY TO GUANGZHOU, CHINA

Guangzhou in China and Muscat will be connected by Oman Air four times a week from December, the airline said in a tweet on its official twitter handle.

"From December 9, 2016, we will fly to Guangzhou, non-stop four times a week," the airline tweeted.

The airline has also opened its  online booking channels  through its official website.

According to the official website, it will cost OMR420 (approximately) for a Muscat- Guangzhou-Muscat trip.

Recently, the airline had also announced that it will launch four weekly direct flights to Najaf from Muscat from September 15.

Under Oman Air's expansion programme, launched late 2014, the national carrier of Oman is in the process of increasing its fleet size to 70 aircraft by 2020.

At that point, Oman Air's fleet will comprise 45 narrow-body aircraft and 25 wide-body aircraft, which will fly to an anticipated 75 global destinations.

Since October 2014, Oman Air has received 12 new B737s, of which seven are the -800 variant and five are -900 variant. Each is currently deployed on routes from Muscat to destinations in the GCC region, in the wider Middle East and on the South Asian sub-continent.

NEW TRANSIT VISA RULES MAKE VISITING QATAR EASIER

Qatar Airways, Qatar Tourism Authority and Qatar's Ministry of Interior announced a revised tourism visa scheme available to passengers transiting through   Doha   in a move to promote Qatar as a world-class stopover destination.

The new transit visa structure now allows passengers with a minimum transit time of five hours in Hamad International Airport, to stay in Qatar for up to 96 hours (four days), without the requirement to apply ahead of time for an entry visa.

This is a significant increase from the previous transit visa scheme, which allowed travelers with a minimum layover of eight hours to spend a maximum of 48 hours (two days) in Qatar. This increase is designed to make stopovers easier and more attractive to Qatar Airways' global passengers, and aims to deliver additional value to the local economy while strengthening Qatar's position as an attractive tourist destination.

The Qatar transit visa is free of charge and available on arrival at Hamad International Airport to passengers of all nationalities, upon confirmation of onward journey and completion of passport control procedures. All visas are approved and issued at the sole discretion of the Ministry of Interior.

AIR INDIA BREAKS THE RECORD FOR THE WORLD'S LONGEST FLIGHT

Last December, Air India started flying a  new route between Delhi (DEL) and San Francisco (SFO)  - a route that the carrier  will be flying six times a week  starting in November. From the launch of this new flight, Air India has been operating this flight on a transatlantic routing. But, on October 16, the airline decided to change it up and try a transpacific routing.

Despite being over 1,800 miles longer than the most direct route, this new transpacific routing took two hours less than scheduled and reportedly saved 13 tons of fuel. This routing covers more than 9,500 miles (15,300 km), which breaks the current record for the longest scheduled commercial flight held by  Emirates' Dubai (DXB) to Auckland (AKL) route . However, this new record will only stand until  Singapore Airlines re-launches its JFK-SIN route in 2018.

RECIPE OF THE MONTH
MOLOKHIA

Prep Time:  10 minutes |  Cook Time:  1 hour

Ingredients:
1 packet of frozen or a little less than 1 lb. fresh finely chopped molokhia leaves (Frozen molokhia found in most Middle Eastern stores is almost always sold finely chopped, but double check the package to make sure)
1 whole pastured chicken (As mentioned above, you can also use duck, rabbit or wild shrimp to make molokhia - the duck's broth is an exceptional one. The others I haven't made yet.)
Several cups of filtered water to cover the chicken while cooking on the stove
1 yellow onion, cut in fourths
10 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon of grass-fed ghee or pastured butter
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2-3 bay leaves, broken into pieces
4-5 cardamom pods, crushed to release flavor
Unrefined salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Method:
(1) Make the base broth  (some of which will be used to make the molokehya stew): Rinse the chicken under running water, rub with salt, rinse well, and place in a deep stainless steel pot. Add enough filtered water to cover the chicken and set on high heat. Add onion (chopped in fourths), bay leaves, cardamom pods, salt and pepper to the boiling chicken. Lower to medium heat and cook for 40 min to an hour (depending on chicken weight), until chicken is fully cooked and has reached an internal temperature of 190F.

(2) Roast the chicken : Remove the cooked chicken and place it in a baking dish. Add a tablespoon of ghee, and your herbs or spices of choice, spread it on the chicken, and broil in the oven for 10-12 minutes on a temperature of 400F until golden brown, flipping the chicken on the other side to roast midway.

(3) Make the garlic-coriander mixture:  Using a mortar and pestle or a handheld electric grinder, mince 10 cloves of garlic. In a separate pot, melt 1 tablespoon of butter or ghee and add the crushed garlic. Add 1 tablespoon of ground coriander and a few drops of lemon juice to the garlic. Sauté the mixture for 2 minutes or until a little browned.

(4) Mix it all together : Add 8-10 cups of the freshly made chicken broth to the garlic-coriander mixture. Simmer for 2 minutes. Try to break the molokhia (if frozen) into a few pieces first, then add them to the soup, stirring continuously to break up the frozen pieces. If using fresh leaves, simply drop the minced leaves into the broth and stir. Boil only for about 5 minutes until the molokhia is well mixed. Make sure not to overcook or keep boiling as molokhia needs to be suspended (overcooking makes the leaves fall to the bottom).

(5) Eat the stew : Many people add white rice to the molokhia, and some add crushed pieces of toasted pita bread. Others, like my grandma, would add the roasted chicken or duck, cut up into pieces into the molokhia. Personally, I now do neither. If I have rice, I only add a spoonful. And I enjoy the roasted bird or meat on the side, to better savor the flavors individually. But of course, there is no rule about how to eat molokhia - it is a matter of preference and tradition! In any case, the only rule is to savor every bite and to eat it while hot, because the flavor of molokhia is unparalleled.

Ayida Khamis, our Leisure Consultant, recently visited Antalya, Turkey. She mentioned that Antalya is unparalleled when it comes to tourist activities, offering opportunities for climbing, rafting, boating, biking, paragliding, hiking and more. A feature of Antalya she enjoyed was being able to hear the azan and having access to halal food items. She recommends staying at The Land of Legends Hotel or at Rixos Hotel, a 5 star luxury hotel by the beach. Her travel tip is to spend at least 3 to 4 nights in Antalya and enjoy its hotels, several of which have theme parks.

ISCA CONFERENCE - THANK YOU!

"Dear Friends in Oman,

I would like to extend my sincere and heartfelt thank you for hosting the ISCA Conference.  Your team did a fantastic job squeezing as many experiences as possible into our program.  And as we say, "time flies when you're having fun!" And the time literally flew by which is a testament to how wonderful a time we were having. My compliments to Sara Chortani and the team at Tour Oman for their help prior to and during the conference.

Our group greatly enjoyed seeing the Grand Mosque, Royal Opera House, forts, souqs, Al Jeela Tombs, National Museum and learning about the history, culture and traditions of Oman.  Eating in a Bedouin house, riding camels, dunes bashing, seeing sand dunes as far as the eye can see, and spending the night in the desert was magical. For most of us, this was our very first Arabian experience so we were like kids playing in the sand!

The final dinner cruise in Mutrah harbor was an excellent grand finale to a wonderful conference leaving all attendees including myself looking forward to visiting Oman again. But as I have said numerous times, the beautiful places, history, food and experiences are shadowed by the genuine hospitality all of you showed us and the friendliness of the Omani people.

Thank you for making ISCA's first Arabian experience truly wonderful and unforgettable!

Sincerely,
Brad Wuest
President"
