How Is Your Fitness Level?

Many of our patients ask about nutrition, look for tips and direction on overall fitness, or are looking for help with weight loss and/or post- rehab training programs. To answer this need, we are proud to introduce Alicia Golden, ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and Functional Movement Specialist. She is the co-owner of A Healthy Balance. She works to help individuals find their healthy balance by incorporating realistic lifestyle fitness and nutrition changes. Given Alicia's background in Occupational Therapy, she specializes in return to physical activity post injury and also in injury prevention.
 
Alicia will be offering free fitness assessments and consultations on-site at Blue Hills Sports & Spine's Braintree location.

What can you expect during the free fitness assessment?
  • Review of a comprehensive health history questionnaire 
  • Brief strength and cardiorespiratory assessments
  • Screening of movement patterns using the Functional Movement Screen
  • Baseline body composition measurements

Time To Get Running!

On Saturday, December 6th, the Morrison School in Braintree will be hosting it's 5th Annual Jingle Jaunt. This will also mark the 5th year in a row that Blue Hills Sports & Spine has been a flagship sponsor of the event. It's a great race that is held at Pond Meadow Park...and it's a great way to work off some of those post Thanksgiving calories! The race is to benefit technology resources for the Morrison school and the past few years have really helped the kids get the resources they need. Help shape future minds and run the race. Are You Ready To Rake?

It's that time of year again! By now your yard has probably started to fill up with leaves. Depending on your leave raking personality, you may work on them a little at time over a period of weeks, or, wait until they all fall down and go attack them in one massive effort. If you are lucky, they may just all blow into your neighbors yard and you won't have to worry about them at all! If that doesn't happen, then you may just be in need of some good stretches to try before and after raking. The constant raking to one direction can be hard on your arms and back...try to switch from right to left hand if you can to help reduce the stress and then try these stretches (click here)to help keep you limber and hopefully prevent any injuries from setting in.
