Sixteenth Street's Department of Environmental Health (DEH) will be distributing free water filter starter kits to residents on the South side of Milwaukee living on lead service lines, on behalf of the city and their partnership with A.O. Smith Corporation and United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County.

Residents can find out whether or not they live on a lead service line by visiting the City of Milwaukee's website.

We will be holding two distribution events at which residents can come and receive a filter, lead poisoning education and talk with our staff about other lead related issues.

We are excited to invite you to read our 2015-2016 Annual Report! Whether it is the inspiring story told by one of our
behavioral health patients, James, or getting a glimpse into the work of our population health team, this report highlights the impact of our wonderful contributors' donations for our patients and the quality care we are able to provide them.

At Sixteenth Street, we realize we would not be able to give quality care for the whole person through our services and programs without the generous support of our community, local businesses and corporate neighbors.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed in some way to our mission and to improving the lives of our patients and community.

The past year has been a great one and we look forward to what the new year brings.

Make the right decision - get health insurance

Healthcare insurance costs are rising. It's a fact. We also don't plan to get hurt or sick. So you may be wondering is paying for health insurance worth it? This decision can be a hard one, but the answer is yes - if possible, we should all have health insurance. Imelda Cruz, Social Services Coordinator at Sixteenth Street, lays down some reasons as to why having insurance is important and why we should lean yes when deciding whether or not to enroll.

Free preventative care
When you have insurance you get free preventative care and annual checkups. Yep! That means NO copay! Preventative care includes very important things like vaccinations, colonoscopies, mammograms...
