Contribute to the FHBC Foundation! Foundation

In 2018, the FHBC Foundation distributed grants to financially support several members of the field hockey community. These grants helped grassroots players pay local club and league fees, regional and provincial athletes pay program fees, post-secondary athletes continue their field hockey participation, and coaches and offic ials pursue professional development and opportunities.  

Please help us continue to support and develop the BC field hockey community by donating today! All donations or gifts of $25 or more a re eligible to receive a tax deductible charitable donation receipt.

UVic Vikes Crowned 2018 National Champions   USports

Field Hockey BC is excited to congratulate the University of Victoria Vikes on their first National Championship victory since 2008! 

The Vikes defeated the York University Lions 2-0 in a best of three series hosted November 2-4, 2018 at Alumni Field in Waterloo, Ontario. The Vikes defeated the Lions 2-1 in the first game and 3-1 in the second game to claim their 12th National Championship banner in the school's history. 

Field Hockey BC is especially proud to recognise the 18 players on the Vikes 20 player roster who are FHBC alumni. Congratulations to BC's own Anna Mollenhauer who was named USports Player of the Year and Emily W ong who earned the Tournament MVP Award for the National Championship.

Handsworth Wins BC High School AAA Provincial Championship   AAA

Handsworth Royals, 2018 Provincial AAA Champions.
The Handsworth Royals successfully repeated their gold medal victory at the 2018 AAA Provincial High School Championships. The tournament hosted by Clayton Heights Secondary took place from November 14-16, 2018 at Tamanawis Park, Surrey.

Handsworth took on Cowichan in the gold medal game, taking a 2-0 victory to claim the Championship banner. South Delta took the bronze in an exciting 2-1 shootout win over Kelowna. The host team Clayton Heights took the Fair Play Award.

Collingwood takes BC High School AA Provincial Gold    AA

Collingwood Cavaliers, 2018 Provincial AA Champions.
In a rematch of last year's AA Championship final, Collingwood defeated Crofton House to win their second consecutive BC High School Provincial gold medal. 

After a tight first half Collingwood's offence took off, carrying them to a 5-0 victory. Shawnigan defeated Seycove for the bronze medal and Brentwood College received the Fair Play Award.

Register for th e Malcolm Fernandes U18 Girls Indoor Tournament   Indoor

Registration is now open f or the 7th annual Malcolm Fernandes U18 Girls Indoor Field Hockey Tournament. 

The tournament will take place from January 25-27, 2019 at the Island Savings Centre in Duncan, BC. 

Don't miss out on this exciting event! The deadline to register is January 15, 2019. For more information, visit the  Cowichan Field Hockey website.  
Men's National Team to Compete in the 2018 FIH World Cup  FIH

The Canadian Men's National Team is taking on the best in the world at the 2018 FIH World Cup from November 28 - December 16, 2018 in Bhubaneswar, India. 

After failing to qualify for the 2014 World Cup, the 11th ranked Canadian team will be looking to improve on their 11th place finish at the World Cup in 2010. BC athletes will be heavily represented at the World Cup, making up 17 of the 18 player roster. 

Canada will face Belgium, South Africa and India in the round robin. The top three teams in each pool will have a chance to move on to the playoff round. Follow Team Canada's progress on the Field Hockey Canada website

Field Hockey BC would like to extend our congratulations to the 2018 Field Hockey Canada Hall of Fame Inductees: Kathy Broderick, Sheila Forshaw, Margaret Lanning and Louis Mendonca.
