2018-2019 FHBC Regional Program Trial Registration: Vancouver Island  RegIsl

Field Hockey BC's Regional Program trials are well underway! The Southeast and Northwest Lower Mainland Girls trials took place over the last two weeks, and the Lower Mainland Boys trials will be held this coming weekend!

Registration for the Boys and Girls Vancouver Island Regional Program Trial will be open on October 3rd, with the trial taking place on October 19th. The Interior Regional Program Trial will take place in January. Check out the Regional Trial Schedule for a full breakdown of trial costs, deadlines, dates and locations by region.

Register for the FHBC Learn 2 Train Regional Program!  L2T

The Field Hockey BC Learn 2 train Program is just around the corner! Registration opens this week to b oys and girls born between 2006-2009 who have some prior field hockey experience.
 
There is no trial for the Learn 2 Train program.

Register for FHBC Umpire Courses    Umpire

Field Hockey BC is excited to announce two upcoming Umpire Courses in October 2018!

Regional Umpire Course

The Regional Umpire Course will take place on Monday, October 15th and Wednesday, October 17th at the Field Hockey BC Head Office. The deadline to register is Wednesday, October 10th. 

Umpires with a current Provincial rating are encouraged to register for this course. The Regional Umpire course costs $80 for FHBC members. For more information on this course,  visit the  Umpire Education Page  on the Field Hockey BC website. To register directly,  click here

Umpire Assessors Course

The Umpire Assessors Course is being held on Saturday, October 27th at the Field Hockey BC Head Office. The deadline to register is Monday, October 22nd. 

Please note, this course is only open to umpires with a minimum Provincial rating and 4+ years of active umpiring. The cost of the course is $55 for FHBC members. For more information on this course, visit the Umpire Education Page on the Field Hockey BC website. To register directly, click here

Online Community Umpire Course 

Are you a new umpire or looking for a refresher course? There's still time to complete the Online Community Umpire Course! This course is open to anyone 13 years or older who is  interested in taking the first steps towards fulfilling the earliest of rated umpire requirements, umpires that desire a refresher, and umpires with expired certifications.

This course is $25 for FHBC members. Registrants have until October 31st, 2018 to complete the course. Visit the Umpire Education Page for more information or click here to register!

Happy National Coaches Week!    CoachWeek

September 22-30, 2018 is National Coaches Week! This week is an opportunity to say a special thank you to all coaches across the country for their tremendous hard work and dedication to sport.

Cowichan Secondary Wins Friendship Cup    Friendship

BC High School field hockey is back! Brentwood College and Shawnigan Lake School kicked things off on the weekend of September 15-16, 2018 when they hosted the Friendship Cup. 

The Friendship Cup consisted of a 15 team tournament across three divisions: Premier, Competitive and Development. 

Cowichan Secondary prevailed in the Premier Division with a 3-2 shootout win over Shawnigan Lake in the finals. Congratulations to all participants! Visit the Lake Cowichan Gazette for the full story. 


Men's National Team: Red Caribou Classic Caribou


Come out and support the Canadian Men's National Team at the 1st Annual Red Caribou Classic! 

This fundraiser, hosted in partnership with the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club, will support the Men's National Team on the road to the FIH World Cup in Bhubaneswar, India. The event will take place at 6 PM on Saturday, September 29th at Hugo Ray Park in West Vancouver. 

Tickets are free for children under the age of 15 and $20 for adults, with dinner and a drink included in the entry fee. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Men's National Team.

Junior Men's National Team: 2018 Youth Olympic Games  YOG

We're just over a week away from the 2018 Youth Olympic Games, where the Canadian U18 Men's National Team will take on the best in the world in Hockey 5s!

The competition will take place from October 6-14, 2018 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The roster is stacked with BC talent, as BC athletes make up five of the nine selected players. The squad travelling to Argentina will be looking to defend their podium finish from the previous Youth Olympic Games, where they took home the silver medal.
