Stephen Mullin and Joel Naroff on PBJ's Economic Forecast 2017 Panel

ESI President, Stephen Mullin , and Senior Advisor, Joel Naroffwere selected to be part of the first panel, "What's Next for Greater Philadelphia in 2017?" on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. To fill out the rest of their panel, Patrick Pilch, Co-Founder and Co-Leader of BDO Center for Healthcare Excellence & Innovation, Shelley Smith, Partner at Archer and Former Philadelphia City Solicitor, and Allan Domb, Councilman-At-Large for the City of Philadelphia, shared their insight and thoughts on the future of the city.

ESI Hosts Senior Advisors Holiday Happy Hour


To celebrate the holidays, we hosted a happy hour in January in our office's atrium for all of our Senior Advisors and Staff. This also gave us a good opportunity to introduce one of our newest Senior Advisors, Natalie Nixon and Susan Baltake (Connect with them below), to the rest of our advisory board. The night was filled with great conversation and excellent company between both our staff and Senior Advisors. We hope to see all of our Senior Advisors at our next happy hour. 
CDA Presented a Session at APA New Jersey's Annual Conference 


CDA Project Lead,  Sidney Wong , ESI Senior Vice President,  Peter Angelides , and Senior Advisor,  Steve Nelson , presented a session, "Fiscal Impact Analysis: New Methods, New Data and Best Practice," at the APA New Jersey Annual Conference  on January 26-27, 2017. Their session discussed Fiscal Impact Analysis and provided practitioners and researchers with experience in re-conceiving  and re-imagining  fiscal impact and developing  better localized data from ACS-PUMs data.

This and other key findings of Roubini ThoughtLab's research, The Work Ahead, completed in partnership with Cognizant's Center for the Future of Work were published in January in the EconoMonitor. In his article "Will Hyper-Digitization Drive the Next Industrial Revolution," Roubini ThoughtLab CEO Lou Celi stresses "digital technology will change not only how we conduct business, but also how we educate, govern, and provide healthcare."

Our President and Principal, Richard Voith , composed an article published in Penn Institute for Urban Research's (Penn IUR) Urban Link issue on Expert Voices 2017: American's Urban Infrastructure. Dr. Voith wrote the article, "Historical Patterns of Infrastructure funding," discussing transportation infrastructure funding and the impact of these historic funding patterns. 

Our Vice President, Lee Huang, was quoted in the New York Times article, "Trump's Vision of 'Carnage' Misses Complex Reality of Many Cities," on Trump's assessment of cities and the challenges that cities like Philadelphia and Chicago face including blight and disparity.
