Join the next Vestry Q&A meeting this Sunday, August 5th after the 8 and 10 am services and bring your creative ideas for how we might best be able sustain our financial performance this year. We will be collecting everyone’s ideas for how we will both trim our costs this year and develop new revenue opportunities.

Vestry Q&A
The Vestry will then prioritize actions we can take right away on both fronts -- and we will gather again as a parish in September in order to discern where we might each best contribute to our success in these endeavors. So, this is an invitation to bring your “loaves and fishes” – your ideas and talents -- to a creative series of parish discussions designed to help prioritize and implement a basket of solutions which will help sustain our parish’s financial well-being. Sue Hall will be helping to facilitate our discussions.

If you can’t attend today there will be a second opportunity to contribute your ideas on Aug 19: ideas can also be emailed to:
Stay tuned to learn more about everyone’s ideas for how we can all creatively contribute to our beloved parish’s financial health!

Sunday School Teacher Round Up!
We return to our regular Fall Sunday School Schedule on September 9.

We are looking for a few people to join our team. Each grade has 6 teachers who teach in teams of two and rotate in and out of the classroom. This keeps the work light, easy and fun! We have great leaders guides that take you through lessons easily. See or email Susie Coffman at to get more information and sign up.
The Stewardship Committee is Seeking New Members
Through Stewardship, we recognize that all we have is a gift from God. In giving freely of our time, our talent, and our treasure, we live out a generous response to God's abundance in all that we have and with all that we are.

The Christ Church Stewardship Committee is seeking additional new members to join us in the promotion of this important message.

Committee meetings will be starting soon as we begin to plan the Fall pledge campaign and explore ways to incorporate stewardship into a year round program. Please contact Brandon Stewart at or
503-621-4597 to learn more about the committee and it's vision for Christ Church.
Power of Prayer
We believe God moves in the lives of everyone. We invite you to connect with God and hear God's call, individually and corporately, to build God's Kingdom here on earth. Please join us as we make our time with God intentional. We encourage you to use sacred reading or pray Sunday's scriptures throughout the week.

Lectio Divina or Sacred Reading is the slow, repetitive reading of a sacred text that leads one to the ultimate step of resting in God. It is not Scripture study, nor is it spiritual reading. It is an invitation to take a "long, loving look at Scripture. It is a time for falling in love with the Word and experiencing the goodness of God.

This four-step process for being with Scripture in a prayerful manner includes: Reading (Lectio); Meditating (Meditatio); Praying (Oratio); and Contemplating (Contemplatio).

To find Sunday's texts visit

John’s Gospel talks about food and bread. What nourishes the deepest parts of us, individually and as a community? How do we receive that life-giving bread?
