The first solo exhibition in Italy by Salandra, a self-taught artist based in New York, internationally known for his thread paintings depicting joyful, erotic scenes between Queer men and other expressions of same-sex desire.

Homage: Queer Lineages on Video celebrates Queer histories and artistic legacies through experimental film and video including including P. Staff’s The Foundation. The film takes its title from Tom of Finland Foundation, set up by Durk Dehner and Tom in 1984.

The exhibition examines the self-image and perception of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex people throughout the centuries with works of art by over 30 artists from the Middle Ages to the present day. It demonstrates the highly fluctuating degree of visibility in images.

The exhibition tells of erotic fantasies, Queer perspectives and new realities—free of taboos and stigma. With works by Paul McCarthy, Peaches, Zheng Bo, Tom of Finland, Joëlle Dubois, Poulomi Basu, Miyo van Stenis, Antigoni Tsagkaropoulou, Martin de Crignis, Melody Melamed, Fausto Berlin and many more.

Through the eyes of a female artist, Prada’s drawings offer fresh perspectives on sexuality, engaging with Tom of Finland’s personal collages and archives.

Onur Hastürk plays with notions of class, power, sex, and pleasure to not only counteract the idea that Queerness did not exist within the Ottoman empire, but to ask the viewer to consider how they approach sex within their own pursuit of pleasure.
