It is also intended to upgrade and modernize the local road, stormwater and water supply infrastructure to meet current standards and achieve the required service levels for the long term. Georgina's entrepreneurs are discovering the support YSpace can provide them. In 2025, more than 280 Georgina-based ventures were supported through nine programs.
Programming and support through the partnership with York University and East Gwillimbury continues to provide resources for both new and existing businesses. Through a range of programs, participants can access mentorship, training, networking and tailored support to help launch, grow and scale.

| | Supporting events, programs and initiatives that create an economic impact through the Explore Georgina Grant | | Eight recipients have received grants through the Town's Explore Georgina Grant Program through its first intake. These grants provide funds to support events, programs or initiatives that will assist with enhancing the identity of the Town, contribute to an increased awareness of opportunities within Georgina, promote community betterment, and create an economic impact on the community. Mayor's Breakfast
On April 14, Mayor Margaret Quirk shared updates on progress, priorities and developments showcasing our growth with more than 90 business owners, entrepreneurs and community leaders at the Salvation Army Retreat and Conference Centre.
Hosted by the Georgina Chamber of Commerce, the event brought the business community together to connect, network and hear firsthand what’s happening in Georgina.

Placemaking workshop
Small business owners, artists and community champions joined us for a thoughtful discussion on how we can continue to make our downtowns and public spaces more vibrant. Facilitator Leslie Fournier, of Your Town Rising, shared her experience and inspiring ideas around placemaking and community-driven revitalization. Her insights sparked meaningful conversation and gave participants practical tools and fresh perspectives to take back to their own spaces and initiatives.

Life science site tour
The Mayor, Chief Administrative Officer and staff were recently invited to tour a newly completed advanced cleanroom manufacturing facility at Traferox Technologies Inc. in Mississauga.
The facility demonstrates the type of specialized infrastructure required to support biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing. The visit provided a real-world example of how similar high-value life science facilities could be developed within the proposed Canadian Life Science and Technology Park located in Georgina.

South Lake Futures micro-loan programs
Access flexible micro-loan programs designed to support small businesses in Georgina, Brock and East Gwillimbury. The Community Capacity Fund (CCF) focuses on downtown revitalization through façade upgrades, accessibility improvements, signage, and interior enhancements that strengthen both business presence and community appeal, while the Equipment Upgrade Fund (EquipUp) helps businesses grow and operate more efficiently by financing equipment purchases, technology upgrades, vehicles, and energy-efficient systems. Community Improvement Plan Program
Own a business in Keswick, Sutton or Jacksons Point? You may be eligible for funding through Georgina’s Community Improvement Plan (CIP) Program. If your property is located within a designated Business Improvement Area (BIA), financial incentives are available to support upgrades such as refreshed storefronts, heritage restoration, accessibility improvements and enhanced landscaping. York Region Tourism Fund
Applications are open for the York Region Tourism Fund, offering up to $5,000 to support events and initiatives that promote tourism, attract visitors, and drive local economic impact throughout York Region. Eligible applicants include registered charities and non-profits, municipalities, BIAs, chambers of commerce, boards of trade, destination marketing organizations, arts and culture associations and community groups. Events must take place by Dec. 31, 2026, and funding is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Learn more.
