Supporting vibrant downtowns in Georgina

Creating vibrant, welcoming downtowns is a key priority within the Economic Development and Tourism Division's five-year strategy. Strong downtowns help support local businesses, attract visitors, create gathering spaces for residents and contribute to Georgina's overall sense of place.

There is a lot of activity happening throughout Georgina's downtowns this summer to help achieve this goal. The revitalization of the Jackson's Point Parkette will begin in July and is anticipated to be completed in August. In Sutton, Phase One of the High Street Improvements in Sutton will begin, marking an important milestone in the revitalization of the downtown core.

Beyond infrastructure improvements, Town staff continue to promote the Community Improvement Plan Program and work closely with local Business Improvement Areas (BIAs) to support programming. This includes the summer Concert Series in Uptown Keswick, as well as an upcoming event series in Sutton and Jackson's Point that brings people together and supports businesses.

The Town is also investing in the long-term success of downtown businesses by supporting storefront businesses in strengthening their online presence. Through programming with YSpace, local businesses have access to resources and expertise to help enhance their digital marketing efforts and improve customer engagement.
