Streamlined grant program launched for non-profit community organizations | |
In the past, Council has received requests from non-profits for funding as part of the annual budget deliberations. In order to streamline the process, a new application process has been introduced. This Non-profit Organizations Grant provides project-based funding to organizations that contribute to the social, economic, cultural, health or general well-being of the Town of Georgina. Applicants can apply for a minimum of $5,000 per application to a maximum of $100,000 per year for non-repayable funds. | |
Georgina's signature food event is back! | |
The Taste of Georgina is a culinary extravaganza highlighting Georgina's rich and diverse flavours. With its unique blend of mouth-watering delights and a warm community atmosphere, the Taste of Georgina has become a much-anticipated annual gathering that draws food enthusiasts and families alike, inviting them to savour the essence of our remarkable town through the joy of food.
The Economic Development and Tourism Division leads this signature event and supports eligible restaurant owners by coordinating it and providing free marketing through various advertising channels that target residents and visitors. In 2023, 12 restaurants participated in the program, generating more than $25,000 over a two-week promotional period.

Georgina's Entrepreneurship Hub continues to support local entrepreneurs | |
Georgina's Entrepreneurship Hub has been busy over the past month, celebrating one year at 1 Market St. in Sutton and offering Small Business Week events that provided free training and skills development to local businesses. We continue to offer programming onsite and virtually with our partners at no cost to participants, such as the upcoming in-person training opportunities facilitated by local experts. | |

Skills Development Fund: Training Stream
Government of Ontario, Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development
The Skills Development Fund (SDF) Training Stream offers funding to organizations for innovative projects that address challenges to hiring, training or retaining workers, including apprentices, to drive Ontario's economic growth. The SDF Training Stream supports projects that:
- address the labour shortage and stimulate growth in key sectors of Ontario’s economy
- will increase Ontario's long-term economic, competitive advantage by creating a sustainable and resilient workforce
- help people with prior involvement in the criminal justice system, at-risk youth, those with disabilities, Ukrainian newcomers, and others facing barriers to employment.
