Applications are now open for the third and final cohort of the Business Bounce Back program! This three-month no-cost program will support new entrepreneurs and business owners within the tourism and hospitality industry to build the business skills and digital know-how to start-up and enhance their ventures.
If you missed our information session during Small Business Week, you can watch the recorded video online. Listen to the program facilitators talk about what to expect and hear from program alumni as they chat about their experiences and successes.

Progress update on Georgina's industrial business park lands |
|
On Oct. 20, Council considered an application to revise a draft approved plan of subdivision located at the north end of the Keswick Business Park that was originally approved in 2016.
The property is being marketed and developed by the Panattoni Development Company as 404 Logistics Park. Panattoni has also submitted a site plan application to permit the construction of a 370,000 sq. ft. industrial building that is expected to generate more than 200 full-time jobs.
These applications and the recent announcement of Scott Woods Transportation moving its operations to the south end of the Keswick Business Park is good news for Georgina. The Keswick Business Park is one of the largest available development opportunities and has the potential to provide significant job opportunities.

Mayor and Council's Milestone Awards
Since 2016, the Town has celebrated businesses and their families that have operated in Georgina for generations with the Mayor and Council’s Milestone Awards. This year, we celebrated businesses that have been in operation for more than 30 years. The Mayor, Councillors and Town staff visited the businesses over the past week to recognize their accomplishment and present them with an award.

Georgina Centre for Arts and Culture welcomes a new Executive Director |
|
The Georgina Centre for Arts and Culture's Chair, Bill Major, announced Jeanne Faria will take the centre's executive director position effective Nov. 1, 2021, replacing Grant Peckford, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
Jeanne comes with extensive experience and professional accomplishments in the world of not-for-profit, community-based organizations and a lifelong commitment and achievements in the broader arts.
The public is invited to attend an open house on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at 1 p.m. to meet Jeanne and enjoy the wonderful exhibit of pieces from the Permanent Collection.

Learning Centre for Georgina receives a COVID-19 grant from the Town to support recovery |
|
The Learning Centre for Georgina opened in the 1980s and offers a number of academic upgrading programs free of cost to Georgina residents. Like most businesses and non-profit organizations, the COVID-19 pandemic altered operations and put a strain on finances. To assist with recovery, the organization applied to the Town’s Not-for-Profit/Charitable Organizations grant. The funding, which complemented recovery support from other levels of government, helped it focus on pivoting its operations. Read more.
