After Hours Urgent Care
Now Available
Friday, Saturday & Sunday
5PM - 12 Midnight
During after hours urgent care, we see patients on a walk-in basis. Animals that arrive with serious conditions are treated in order of urgency. Less serious cases such as respiratory infections, limping, minor cuts, ear infections, diarrhea, vomiting and patients with skin diseases are treated in order of arrival.
Know that after hours urgent care is for emergencies that need immediate assistance but are of a nature that allow out-patient emergency treatment. We provide effective after-hours relief for common pet illnesses and injuries - just like an urgent care center for people but for pets! For life threatening emergencies, please go directly to  Clay Duval Pet Emergency .
Benefits Of Urgent Care
  • Clay Humane Urgent Care service is experienced in treating minor emergencies and are designed to promptly treat minor medical conditions before they become life-threatening. Life-threatening emergencies should always go directly to the nearest emergency clinic.

  • Wait time is reduced because the problems are non-life threatening.

  • Urgent care cost less. Clay Humane is an excellent alternative for those non-life-threatening emergencies.

We've Hit 25,000
Spay It Forward initiative a huge success
Our 25,000th FREE cat sterilization "Jake" Slaughter receives chin scratches.
On August 23, 2018 our cat sterilization program hit another huge milestone! Among the 23 cats admitted for spays/ neuters that day was "Jake" Slaughter who would have the distinction of being our 25,000th free cat sterilization!  That’s 25,000 healthier and happier cats and hundreds of thousands of unwanted births prevented.  Big thanks to Bissell Pet Foundation, Florida Animal Friend, and Petco Foundation for helping us in our battle against pet overpopulation!
DID YOU KNOW - Every Wednesday, at our vet clinic, is reserved for the first 40 first come, first served, feral cats for FREE sterilization and rabies vaccination. All feral cats must be in humane traps only. Ear notching is required.
The Spay It Forward Clay Humane initiative is aimed at lowering animal intake in area shelters thus reducing euthanasia in companion animals. Thirty-five percent of cats in U.S. households are not spayed or neutered, yet the procedure is one of the most effective ways to reduce the homeless pet population!
We need your help! Through grants and your generous donations, we can continue to sterilized even more cats, preventing tens of thousands more in unwanted births. Make a donation today.

Beware - Chewing Gum Can Be Deadly For Your Dog
Safe for you, not so safe for your canine
People are normally aware of the dangers of chocolate and anti-freeze in pets but what about sugar free chewing gum? Most chewing gum brands use an artificial sweetener called xylitol in their sugar free gum to give it that sweetness. Xylitol is mostly safe for you to consume but, unfortunately, even small amounts can be deadly to your dogs.

The human body can tell the difference between real sugar and xylitol so when xylitol enters our systems, it doesn’t release any extra insulin. However, a dog’s body doesn’t know the difference. When it sees xylitol, it assumes it is sugar and starts releasing a bunch of insulin to process the sugar.

But because it isn’t sugar, the insulin can’t do anything to it. This means all that extra insulin just starts working on whatever sugar is there and it starts breaking it down way too quickly.

So, your dog’s blood sugar levels will drop rapidly. This is what bodies use to fuel everything so when it is too low, it can start to wreak havoc on the whole body.
