Fresh Domestic Flounder - North Carolina & New Jersey are currently producing
- There are only a few boats fishing for flounder right now and they are leaving the docks and coming in at the same time.
- This elevates pricing due to low availability and high demand.
- We may not see relief on pricing until Virginia opens in the fall.
Fresh Wild Rockfish - Fairly consistent landings on fish from the North Atlantic
-
Smaller sizes are currently harvested off the coast of Massachusetts with jumbo fish caught off the coast of Delaware.
Fresh Domestic Scallops - recent poor landings will start to drive pricing back up
- Domestic reports are telling us that the highest catches and lowest pricing has passed.
- Imported production is also at an all time low and we are hearing this will be the most expensive year for scallops yet.
Live Lobsters - Market is down significantly
- There is a lot of product on the market but not a lot of current global demand.
- This will inevitably allow for the frozen lobster market to decrease once more expensive product has been exhausted.
Game Fish - Mahi, Sword, Tuna
- All imported game fish is slightly elevated right now and that is directly affected by tariffs as many of these fish are caught out of the Caribbean.
- Currently, we are not seeing much domestic game fish to help alleviate pricing.
Fresh Wild Salmon - seasons are open in Alaska
- Sockeye, Coho, and Keta salmon markets are now open.
- Short seasonality making for high demand.
