Backpacks program helps clients stay on budget

This summer, through the Back-to-School backpack program, we gave out over 600 brand new backpacks chock full of school supplies. We thank all those who donated to this program to help these kids to start the year on even ground with their peers.

According to a recent Patch article , families spend between $35 and $459 per year purchasing school supplies. This cost puts a lot of pressure on families who are already struggling.

In one clients own words...
"I have two middle school students and a highschooler and we have used the backpack program since we moved to Beverly. It is always a huge relief to me that I know the kids can get a backpack and supplies to help them start off the school year. I work a full time job, but struggle to keep up with all the costs of providing for my kids. If I had to buy everything they needed I would not be able to afford it. Beverly Bootstraps helps us and we feel very supported and that makes a difference to all of us."

Donate Change to Make Change to keep local kids from going hungry.

Throughout September, Beverly Bootstraps has partnered with local businesses to raise awareness about Hunger Action Month and support fellow community members in need. In Essex County alone over 11% of children do not have enough to eat. Help us to keep them fed by donating the change from your purchase at one of these generous Beverly businesses: A New Leaf , Beverly Bootstraps Thrift Shop , Flourish Bake Shopp e , Prides Crossing Confections , Tartine Kitchen and Eatery , Super Sub and What’s Brewin' Cafe .

Donate toiletries and cereal to the Food Pantry

The Food Pantry is always in need of toiletries and cereal, but right now, we are a little low in supplies of each. Toiletries, which are not covered by SNAP benefits, are always flying off our shelves. And cereal, which is such a healthy, quick and easy breakfast and great for kids heading off to school, is not something people typically think of to donate.

Thank you in advance!

Thank you!
