September's Covid Protocol
for In-Person Worship
Update from Church Council
Contact person: Sue Woods- [email protected]
The coronavirus wave continues to spread across CA and Yolo County is currently in the medium COVID-19 community risk level.

Health officials are warning of two ultra-contagious Omicron subvariants-BA.4 and BA.5-spread. Experts believe the subvariants, which are not only especially contagious but also capable of reinfecting those who have survived earlier Omicron infection.

This calls for a wise approach to mitigation. We know that the effects for the vaccinated are rarely severe (but the possibility of long-haul symptoms are very real). Each of us has a role to play in caring for one another.

John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, provided “General Rules” that continue to provide guidance in our congregation.  The first rule is “Do no harm”.   Our Church Council attends to the data provided by our public health professionals and offers this guidance to our guests, members, and staff.
September Special Offering
VIM India (Mary Philip - [email protected])
Church member Mary Philip has led a number of VIM (Volunteers in Mission) trips to India and, as a result, our church has developed ongoing relationships with several organizations and programs in India.

For many years, Davis UMC has supported the schooling of three girls (now young women) at Sharanam, a school for girls in Mumbai, India. This support has been a joint project of United Women of Faith, a group of individuals, and the congregation as a whole. The original three girls whom we supported over the years, Nazareen, Harshada, and Deepali, are now young women who have gone on to pursue professional careers. With our ongoing contributions to VIM India, we will continue to support schooling for other children at Sharanam, all of whom deserve and appreciate our love and assistance.

Thank you for your faithful giving to VIM India.

Davis Friends Meeting (Quakers) presents an inspiring film, Mission Joy: Finding Happiness in Troubled Times, which showcases the remarkable friendship between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The film offers an intimate experience of moving conversations, hilarious banter, and science-backed wisdom. Thurs. Sept. 22, 2022 at 7pm, Friends Meetinghouse, 345 L Street, Davis. FREE

The UWF fellowship (formerly UMW) in conjunction with the Social Justice committee is having a DIAPER DRIVE through the month of September. Diapers are a huge expense for any family, but when budgets are tight, buying diapers can cripple a budget. Please give generously! Remember that there are older babies who should not be rushed out of diapers when they are not psychologically ready to transition. The box is in the narthex as you enter the sanctuary. Add a box of diapers to your grocery list. Thank you!
