THIS SUNDAY:

Part 3: Doesn't the Bible Approve of Slavery?
Text: Matthew 20:26-28

Doesn’t the Bible approve of slavery?  This is always a sensitive topic, especially in the South.  When skeptics push against the Bible with this issue, they’re usually looking for a chapter and verse that says “slavery is evil.”  It’s not there. Instead, you see the patriarchs with slaves and Paul teaching slaves how to serve better. If you don’t know the history or context, it might appear as a biblical approval of slavery. But if you pay attention, you’ll see quickly that there is no possible way to treat others the way Jesus tells us to and support slavery at the same time.
