Guam Chamber of Commerce Statement

A Response to the Governor's State of the Island Address

As the Guam Chamber of Commerce, we appreciate the Governor’s commitment to the people of Guam. We share her vision of a prosperous and thriving island. However, we believe a more comprehensive and balanced perspective is necessary to truly address the challenges and opportunities facing our business community and the island as a whole.

We acknowledge the progress made in recent years, particularly in fiscal management and reducing unemployment. The Governor rightly points to the resilience of our people in overcoming past crises. However, while celebrating these achievements, we must also recognize the persistent struggles and difficulties faced by many businesses and families.

On Inflation and the Cost of Living

We agree with the Governor that the rising cost of living and inflation continue to be a significant burden on our community. While we appreciate the initiatives taken to provide childcare assistance, power, and rental relief, these are temporary measures. We need sustainable, long-term solutions.

Country Club of the Pacific in Yoña

Sunday, March 30, 2025

With its mission of Ina, Deskubre, and Setbe, the University of Guam empowers the region by uniting island wisdom with universal sources of enlightenment to support exceptional education, discovery, and service that respect and benefit local and global communities. The funds raised during the University of Guam Golf Challenge will support UOG President Anita Borja Enriquez's Tulos Mo'na strategic plan through College Affordability.

As part of the many Charter Month activities, the University of Guam is celebrating nearly 73 years of contributing to workforce development in the island region, comprising 57 years as a chartered institution. This event offers a unique way to continue the festivities and show support for UOG's mission. Unlike a traditional golf tournament, the Driving Range Challenge will be a lively and exciting competition, featuring fun contests such as the Longest Drive for bragging rights, the Straightest Drive, and Plinko Golf, where participants can win hotel stays, gift certificates, and more, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all!
