For Such a Time as This

Dear Beloved of God,

This past month, we celebrated one of the greatest joys in the life of the Church: welcoming new brothers and sisters through Holy Baptism and celebrating those who were confirmed and received into the Episcopal Church.

Baptism is an eternal gift. In those waters, God claims us as beloved children forever. Our identity is no longer defined by our successes or failures, but by God’s unchanging love. Nothing can separate us from that love.

Confirmation and Reception remind us that faith is a lifelong journey. They are opportunities to say “yes” once again to the work of the Holy Spirit and to continue growing as disciples of Jesus Christ. Their witness invites each of us to renew our own commitment to follow him.

As our nation marks 250 years since the Declaration of Independence, we give thanks for those who have gone before us and the freedoms we enjoy. Yet we also remember that our deepest identity is found in God’s eternal Kingdom—a kingdom of hope, grace, and love that welcomes people from every nation and generation.

I believe God has gathered us at St. Timothy’s for such a time as this.

Together, we are learning to experience God’s love and share it. We worship, pray, and serve side by side. We welcome newcomers, nurture children, feed the hungry, care for seafarers and truck drivers through our Port Ministry, visit those who are forgotten, and encourage one another through every season of life.

These are more than ministries. They are signs of God’s Kingdom breaking into the world.

Thank you for the many ways you live out your faith each day. Whether you have been part of St. Timothy’s for years or have only recently joined us, you have an important place in God’s story here.

May we continue to grow in our experience and knowledge of God’s love so that, filled with hope, we may share that love with our families, our neighbors, and all whom God places in our path.

Hope is alive because Christ is alive. For such a time as this, God has called us to share that hope with the world.

Opportunities and Events

Creativity Class

July 11th: 11-12 at Cozy Peach

Pastor Robin will be teaching a creativity class. Transform your refrigerator with images of wonder and awe. Using Mini-magnet canvases to display images, words or scriptures that bring you awe and wonder.

Space is limited to 12 people. $25 includes 5 mini-magnet canvases and supplies.

Example: palms bring me awe and wonder. How they keep standing after so many storms and hurricanes. They bend but do not break. They give me hope that I can remain standing even in the midsts of life’s storms.

Support CASA Kids - Backpacks & School Supplies

Please help kids served by Gulf Coast CASA to have a more normal back-to-school experience. We are collecting school supplies and backpacks in the red buckets in the hallway.

If you prefer, you can donate cash, please make your check or digital donation to St. Timothy's, and note that it's for the Back-to-School Drive in the memo area. We'll use monetary donations to purchase basic supplies and extra backpacks in bulk.

Please plan to make your donation by Sunday, August 2. We will pack the backpacks sometime during the following week, (date to be announced).

Compline Taking a July Break

During COVID-19 and a time of clergy transition for St. Timothy’s, Rev. Genevive Razim sought lay ministers to support virtual worship and prayer opportunities for St. Timothy’s, and in 2020 I began praying Wednesday night Compline through Facebook Live on our St. Timothy’s public page. To be perfectly honest it seems like not that long ago that we started this Wednesday night prayer time. How quickly life moves on.

This July finds me with quite a lot going on in my life and in my home, and I need July to be dedicated to my family and my house. This past Wednesday I came together with some folks to close and complete the day in prayer, but for the remaining 4 Wednesdays in July I will be taking a break.

I’m extremely excited to be starting this month with some significant work on our house along with enjoying a week when Mark and I have some vacay time while Jacob attends Camp Beloved and Beyond in the Waco-Temple area. Yes, I will…again….have Mark do the Silos with me.

Each Wednesday night’s closure of my day through Compline prayer brings the most amazing sense of how lightness and darkness coexist in my faith yet affirm that God’s protection is always upon me. Visual echoes of Compline appear to me in many places. When we went to the Port Ministry 2 weeks ago above the door as you leave is from Psalm 91:11 that we say each Wednesday-- For he shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. My prayers shall continue for you throughout July.

Altar Flowers

In 2026, our set of 2 Altar floral arrangements will be present at regular St. Timothy’s Sunday services only on the occasions when parishioners provide flowers for special thanksgivings or remembrances. Floral arrangements may be given in memory, thanksgiving or celebration of whomever and/or for whatever the person/family donating flowers chooses for that selected Sunday. A pamphlet by the Flower Chart in the Narthex outlining this process is available. Please do note on our wall-mounted flower chart the Sunday(s) you wish to provide flowers and sign on that date. We have 2 local floral shops—Carriage Flowers and LJ Flower Co.—we use. By the Monday or Tuesday of the week before your selected Sunday contact your choice of shop to arrange for and pay the flower shop directly for your 2 arrangements order. You will no longer provide a check to St. Timothy’s for flowers. Kim Lehnhoff will coordinate flowers and is available to help with any step in the process of arranging for your flowers. There are 2 ways for prayer requests to be included in the Prayers of the People during worship and the weekly Blast. Details will remain confidential.

Call the office to share your request (979-297-6003).

Use the online form found on the church website or scan the QR code found here or in your bulletin.

Whether prayers of supplication or of thanksgiving:

Incorporate your personal prayers into worship
Use the longer pause during the Prayers of the People for spoken and unspoken prayer
Join a member of the Healing Prayer team at the side chapel after taking communion

Round Dance Lessons

Round Dance lessons are held in the Parish Hall on most Mondays. We are doing a variety of ballroom dances. Newbies are welcome as we currently have very low numbers of attendees, you'll get lots of personal instruction. Wear casual clothes with comfortable shoes that slide. Join us for fun exercise and to meet new friends. Cost is $5 per person per lesson approximately 1 to 1 1/2 hours on Mondays starting at 7:00PM.
