What Do You Do When Hunger Meets Our Calling? 

Dear Beloved of God, 

We have been discerning this question and others during August. Through recent discernment, Scripture, conversation, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we have been listening together for how God is calling us to respond to hunger—both as individuals and as the Body of Christ here at St. Timothy’s. That listening now invites us to move from reflection to action: to recognize the needs around us and consider how the gifts God has placed in our hands might become a source of welcome, dignity, and care.

Jesus said, “Give them something to eat.” The disciples saw scarcity, but Jesus saw what God could do with what they had.

Our conversations have reminded us that hunger is not only about food. People also hunger for welcome, dignity, friendship, hope, and belonging. As a church, we are called to notice these needs and respond with the gifts God has placed in our hands.

One way this calling is taking shape is through the creation of Blessing Bags. These bags will be available to give to anyone in need who comes to our doors. Shannon Pfeifer, Jackie Kaus, and Sondra Grinner are spearheading this project, with more details to come as we continue unpacking our conversations and listening for the Spirit’s guidance.

As individuals, we are also invited to ask: Where does my abundance meet someone else’s need? We may have food, time, compassion, skills, hospitality, or simply the willingness to notice and care.

As a church and as individuals, we may not be able to meet every need, but we can begin with what God has given us. When we offer even what seems small, God can use it in ways we cannot yet imagine.

More shall be revealed as we continue to listen, learn, and respond together.

Vestry Nominations are Open

It's vestry Nomination time. The deadline for Nominations is September 15. Elections are in October. There are four vestry members going off vestry, leaving three. Meetings are typically on the third Thursday of the month at 6:30-7:30 or 8 pm. Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you for this important role. Attached here is a list of requirements. Please don’t hesitate to ask Rebecca or Pastor Robin or any vestry member questions. 

The outgoing vestry members will form a committee to receive nominations. Forms can be filled out and left in the office or with Rebecca Klimek, outgoing Senior Warden.

Please join us in praying: Lord, please raise up the best leaders for our vestry for such a time as this that will help us fulfill your plans and purposes for St. Timothy’s, in Jesus Name. Amen.

The Hungry in Our Midst: Discerning God’s Call

Sundays in August, 9:45-10:15, Blue Room

Through the remainder of the month of August, Sondra Griner will lead our Adult Formation class as we explore what the Bible says about God’s concern for those who are hungry and how followers of Jesus are called to respond. Together we’ll listen to Scripture, share our experiences, pray, and discern what God may be inviting St. Timothy’s to become in this season.

Join us this Sunday as we seek to become a community that trusts God’s abundance, shares what we have, and discovers Christ in our neighbors.

Tabatha's Guild (Sewing)

For those of you who want to join us, the sewing room will be open for your sewing needs from 2-4PM this Saturday. You can use our sewing machines, supplies and fabric as you wish. If you need specialty supplies or fabric, please bring your own or ask me if we have what you need.

If you bring your own sewing machine, I'm happy to help you learn how to use it, thread it, wind bobbins for it, etc.

The outside door will be locked for safety. If you don't have a key, ring the courtyard doorbell or call/text me at (979)388-5687 to be let in.

Sewing with Guests from the Food Basket

St. Timothy's has been blessed with something unusual for a church - a dedicated sewing room with sewing machines, fabric and supplies!

On Thursday, we used this space to welcome guests from the Food Basket who love to be creative. Our guests had a great time, and walked away with cute fabric baskets to use at home.

Thanks to Gigi and Sondra for volunteering your time and sewing knowledge to make this a success!

Thank you for your generous support of our neighbors who are dealing with food insecurity. On Wednesday, we delivered 145 pounds of food as well as some cleaning supplies and hygiene items.

Altar Flowers

In 2026, our set of 2 Altar floral arrangements will be present at regular St. Timothy’s Sunday services only on the occasions when parishioners provide flowers for special thanksgivings or remembrances. Floral arrangements may be given in memory, thanksgiving or celebration of whomever and/or for whatever the person/family donating flowers chooses for that selected Sunday. A pamphlet by the Flower Chart in the Narthex outlining this process is available. Please do note on our wall-mounted flower chart the Sunday(s) you wish to provide flowers and sign on that date. We have 2 local floral shops—Carriage Flowers and LJ Flower Co.—we use. By the Monday or Tuesday of the week before your selected Sunday contact your choice of shop to arrange for and pay the flower shop directly for your 2 arrangements order. You will no longer provide a check to St. Timothy’s for flowers. Kim Lehnhoff will coordinate flowers and is available to help with any step in the process of arranging for your flowers.
