Tips for Care Partners: Join the Mindfulness and Meditation Workshop
Wondering what exactly Mindfulness & Meditation is?

Mindfulness means we are purposefully paying attention in a certain way to be in the present moment without judgement. Mindfulness is about focus, awareness and is a powerful tool we can all use right now. Meditation is our personal practice of focusing the mind to achieve a mentally clear and calm state. Guided meditation is a practice of relaxed concentration where you follow a narrator’s instructions relating to breath and imagery, which are very valuable to our health and wellbeing.

Caring for a loved one during the COVID-19 pandemic brings new challenges and by learning to be aware of what is transpiring in the mind & body, one can shift the quality of all experiences. By practicing mindful living, you will become more authentic in all your actions.

Would you like to learn more?
Join us for a new online program: Mindfulness and Meditation. Learn the 5 Elements of the Mindfulness Self-Care Model, mindfulness grounding techniques and supports, meditation basics and enjoy a guided secular meditation followed by a group discussion.

Sessions will run every Wednesday from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on the following dates:
• May 13, 20 & 27
• June 3

Hi I'm Angela!

I am Operations & Program Manager for the Alzheimer Society Hastings-Prince Edward. One of the best things about my job is the team of people that I get to work with every day. Having such a supportive group of staff and volunteers makes the work not feel like work at all. I enjoy the variety of tasks that my job provides. I work collaboratively with client support services staff in the delivery of support and education programs. I frequently have the privilege of spending time with clients at special functions, memory cafes and quick hellos when they visit our office. I oversee the operations of our offices, processes and procedures, bank and record revenue and have a great team to help me with receipting of donations. I work closely with our wonderful Fund Development team and enjoy helping out at events.

You can reach out to me at [email protected] or 613-962-0892
My Hobbies

I enjoy yoga and walking outdoors. I recently taught myself to knit... however am not brave enough to try anything other than basic items that don’t require a pattern. My family and friends did well in showing excitement over the washcloths, headbands and scarves they received for Christmas. Now that spring has arrived (sort of) you will find me outside in the garden or working on home renovations with my husband, we always have at least one project on the go. I recently started a 1000 piece puzzle, the last puzzle I did was with my boys years ago-the pieces had wooden pegs on them and they fit neatly in their holes.
My Favourite Movie
A couple of my fave movies are Dirty Dancing, (watching it takes me back to the 80’s when it was released), and The Game with Michael Douglas (2 very opposite ends of the spectrum I know)
What I'm Reading
I am currently reading “Hide and Seek” by James Patterson who is a favorite author of mine, you will always find me digging for his books at our book sales. The next one in the stack on my bedside table is an oldie but goodie “The Power of Positive Thinking” by Vincent Peale. I usually switch between fiction and nonfiction.
My Mood Boosting Quarantine Recipe
A new favorite recipe in our home was created by my son on his night to cook. Caesar salad (romaine lettuce, croutons, Renee’s Caesar dressing, fresh parmesan cheese) with a twist-strawberries and green onion.
My Favourite TV Shows
A couple of my favorite TV shows are The Blacklist, Chicago Fire and Chicago Med. I also quite enjoyed Homeland.
Come back next week to learn about someone else on the ASHPE Team!
WE THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT
Sincerely ,
The staff at Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward
