Dear Friends, this Sunday we are drawn into knowing God. Some places in the Bible call that, “knowing God.” Doing justice is knowing God. Biblical justice is more than retributive, enacting punishment on the guilty. Biblical justice sets a plumbline by which all relationships are measured. God’s justice is frequently applied to the cause of the widows, orphans, immigrants, and poor. The justness of any society is measured by how it treats these groups within society. Please join us for a Biblical explanation of words that have lost their meaning in American individualism and exceptionalism.

We have had two successful online worship offerings in a row! You can join us live at 9:30 am by going to our YouTube channel. A link is provided on Rejoice’s website home page. If you don’t make it in time, don’t worry, it will be recorded for a later viewing.

I leave you with this prayer:
Disturb us, Lord, when We are too well pleased with ourselves, When our dreams have come true Because we have dreamed too little, When we arrived safely Because we sailed too close to the shore.

Disturb us, Lord, when With the abundance of things we possess We have lost our thirst For the waters of life; Having fallen in love with life, We have ceased to dream of eternity And in our efforts to build a new earth, We have allowed our vision Of the new Heaven to dim.

Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, To venture on wider seas Where storms will show your mastery; Where losing sight of land, We shall find the stars. We ask You to push back The horizons of our hopes; And to push into the future In strength, courage, hope, and love. AMEN
