Dear Friends,

It's HERE!!! Summer is over and our fall programming kicks off with God's Work Our Hands this Sunday. It begins with our "Worship Service" this Sunday, 9:30 am. We also celebrate First Communion with two families! Approximately 10 am, the "Service of Worship". Wear your grubbies. If you haven't signed up for a work team, please check out our sign up:

Please show up, even if you are not signed up. We will get you on a team.

Also, this Sunday we will do a backpack blessing for school children. We encourage them to bring their backpacks to worship, or have them handy for the YouTube recording. We will pray for students, families, and school staff.

If you do not sign up for attending worship but decide you want to attend on Sundays, please show up. There's room!

Pastor Jim

God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday – September 13, 2020
This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.

Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.

September 13 is fast approaching and your hands are needed for this second annual event at Rejoice!
Do you have a need for help with yard and outdoor household work (such as washing the outside of windows)? If you have a need, please call the church office at 320.558.6851 as soon as possible and leave your name, phone number and tasks that you need to have completed.
This service day is meant for everyone! Please sign up as a family, by yourself, with your neighbor, as a confirmation group to participate. Please use this link to sign up: Please list everyone in your group so that we have an accurate count for each team.

  • Team 1 - wash outside windows at three homes; homeowners will provide cleaning supplies
  • Team 2 - pull weeds and clean gutters at home from last year; will not take long if there are 4-5 people
  • Team 3 - general yard work at home from last year: mow lawn, blow leaves, pull weeds; no supplies needed besides riding lawn mower
  • Team 4 - tidy outdoor cross area at Rejoice; mulch needed

If you have any questions about this day, please contact Susan Chwalek at 320.267.0320.

Dear Church: A Love Letter from a Black Preacher to the Whitest Denomination in the U.S. by Lenny Duncan (2019). Fortress Press, Minneapolis.
The Whitest Denomination in the U.S. That’s us. The ELCA. Duncan’s love letter is a bold call to revolution to all in the ELCA to acknowledge and dismantle white supremacy in the Church. He reminds us that Jesus was revolutionary, political and divisive. He reminds us that Jesus named and confronted radical evil and in our time that radical evil is racism. The book is uncomfortable at times given the clarity of his voice and his passionate call for change. Some of the language he uses may seem offensive, but he uses it to GET OUR ATTENTION because as a Church we cannot continue to ignore the connection between our lack of diversity and our lack of vitality. Read. This. Book. Then, let’s talk.
