In our gospel reading for this week, Jesus asks Peter (three times,) ‘Do you love me?’ He concludes the interaction with the imperative statement, ‘Feed my lambs…tend my sheep...follow me.’ As Faith5 (Sunday School) concludes this week, and as our confirmation and Faith Formation students did such an awesome job leading us in worship last week, it’s a good time to recognize the many ways, and many individuals, who put this imperative into action as disciple/leaders in Christian education and youth ministry here at Rejoice. I am not going to name names because I’ll surely miss someone. But I will be asking all who are present to stand and be acknowledged as part of announcements on Sunday morning. So I encourage all of us to be intentional about following up and extending a personal thank you to all those who feed and tend the beautiful ‘sheep’ entrusted to our care.
Just a reminder that I begin “summer hours” this coming week which means I’ll be here on Sundays, of course, and then in the office Mondays and Tuesdays. (I’ll work from home one day a week and will be available by phone when needed.) I trust that this will not only be a blessing for me, personally, but it will serve as a blessing for the congregation as a whole as we work together to be responsible stewards of our financial resources.
Blessings and peace!
