Please and Thank You
These two words are often the first we try to teach our children once they learn the most
important words: “mama” and “daddy”, right? So let me practice them again with you, but let’s begin with thanks.
  • Thanks to all who have agreed to serve as mentors for our 6th and 7th grade confirmation students during Lent. Please, as confirmation parents, if your son/daughter has not asked someone to be their mentor yet, encourage and help them find someone before Feb.27!
  • Thanks to all who have agreed to share in leadership positions for 2019, both Council Members and Call Committee Members. Please, as members of Rejoice, make yourself aware of who these committed individuals are and pray for them daily!
  • Thanks to all who recognize the importance of sound financial footing in these challenging days! The good news is that January offerings for our mortgage obligation exceeded the monthly payment. However, offerings for the general fund did not. Please, prayerfully consider how you and your family might help change this outcome as we move forward into God’s exciting and preferred future for Rejoice. And if you haven’t returned your 2019 commitment card yet, please do so as soon as possible.
  • THANKS to all who plow, shovel, and make travel and community possible these challenging winter days! We are so grateful!! Please, as people who too often take these gifts for granted, make the extra effort to thank them personally when you can, and, please pray often that they will be safe!

Peace…,
Pastor Marlene
Office Hours
Rejoice office is now closed on Fridays.
Financial Pledge
Please return your commitment card. Those who contribute through the Simply Giving electronic deduction, please also fill out a commitment card. Several options make it easy:
  • Mail your card to Rejoice using the pre-addressed envelope you received
  • Place your card in the offering plate during church service
  • Drop your card off at church
Social Concerns Meeting
You are invited to join the conversation at the next Social Concerns team meeting .
  • Tuesday, February 19
  • 6:00 p.m.
  • Rejoice Good News Library

If you have any questions or suggestions for this committee and are unable to attend this meeting, please contact Susan Chwalek at 320.267.0320.
Young @ Heart
Never be too old to outlive enthusiasm! Our happily retired group is at it again.
  • Thursday, February 21
  • 10:30 a.m. social time with cards, games and coffee
  • 12:00 Noon lunch - then top off the day with a front row seat to the music of Terry Nelson

Reservations are important, as it helps us to calculate how much food to make, and keep the cost down. Making your reservations is easy!

The meal is catered; however we can always use help with serving. A suggested donation of $5 is an unbelievable entertainment bargain! See you there!
Help a Student Take Charge of Their Spiritual Future
Each confirmation student in 6th and 7th grade is to personally ask an adult to be their mentor and share with them for 20-30 minutes following worship each Wednesday evening during the season of Lent.
  • March 6-April 10

Parents, your student is to let Pastor Marlene know by Wednesday, February 27 who their mentor will be so she can contact them with follow-up information and expectations.

If you are asked to share in this important faith-building time of a young person, please consider being ready to say “Yes!”.
Great River Conference Colleagues
The annual assembly of the Great River Conference is in two weeks:

Pre-assembly packets for voting members are available in the office. The Executive Team is actively seeking a nominee for an open position on the ELCA Great River Conference Synod Council . If you or someone you know from Rejoice would make a great addition to the Synod Council, reach out as soon as possible.
What Do You Like to Sing?
Don’t forget to tell us about your favorite hymn.  Hymns (and their stories,) will be part of our Lenten series “Songs and Prayer” which begins on Wednesday, March 6. So submit the name of your favorite hymn with a brief description of how/why this came to be. (If you would be willing to share the story in person that would be wonderful! If not, your brief description will be on the slide.)

Forms for sharing are on the table in the gathering area!
First Communion
Students in 3rd grade are invited to participate in First Communion instruction:
  • Sundays, March 10, 17 and 24
  • between services

First Communion will be celebrated during the 10:30 a.m. service on Sunday, April 7. If you have an older child who would like to complete their First Communion, please visit with Pastor Marlene.

Feed the Hungry, Clothe the Naked, Shelter the Wanderer
There is high demand for food and clothing at St Cloud Place of Hope and Salvation Army due to the horrid temps from this polar vortex. Yes, the cold is lifting, but supplies are low or on empty and there is much winter left. All that our congregation does is very appreciated and put into use for those who have immediate needs. Donations needed:
  • Clothing - all sizes
  • Snowmobile suits
  • Coveralls
  • Snow pants/bibs
  • Boots
  • Long underwear
  • Flannel shirts
  • Warm scarves
  • Hand warmers/foot warmers

You can ship supplies via Amazon or Walmart - easy and practical! Drop off or ship your donations to Place of Hope, 511 9th Avenue North, Door #4, St Cloud, MN 56301.
Weekday Winter Walking
Don’t let the cooler weather keep you cooped up, come walk the halls at Rejoice on Monday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. For entry, push the buzzer on the right-hand side of the door that leads to the library and office area.
