Thank You from Girl Scout Troop 1935
Girl Scout Troop 1935 thanks everyone who donated to the toy drive for the Lurie Children's Hospital. They were overwhelmed by the support from our wonderful community! Between Troop and community donations, they collected 413 items. Upon delivery, the troop was presented with a Super Donor certificate, and were asked to share the hospital’s appreciation. As a not-for-profit, Lurie's relies on donations like these. Thank you for helping make this such a success!
4th of July Update
The Spring Grove 4th of July Committee is busy planning another great 4th of July! The celebration consists of a 2-hour parade at noon, a festival immediately following at Horse Fair Park with food and fun, live music from 5-9 p.m., and a firework display at dusk. Everyone is invited to join in the parade line-up. You can sign up under "event" on their website . This year's G rand Marshal is retiring SG Fire District Chief Rich Tobiasz who has been part of our community for over 35 years! The theme is: "How does YOUR garden grow - Loving our Planet". Everything you need to know you can find here: sg4thofjuly.com .
Planting of Tree of Terezin
A cutting from the Tree of Terezin was planted by the Lisa Dermon Holocaust Memorial in Spring Grove Park by Spring Grove Elementary children in the Storytelling Club on May 31. During the Holocaust, children held in the Terezin Concentration Camp in Czechoslovakia sacrificed a portion of their weekly water rations to care for a silver maple tree throughout the war. Read more about this special tree here . If you would like to visit, the park is located at 2102 Main Street.
Photo of the Week
