August 7, 2019
Dear Village Resident ,
Boy Scout Landon Simecek was seeking
a project to become an Eagle Scout, so he chose to build the columns for our four new "Welcome to Spring Grove" signs. He spent many months planning all aspects of the project, then supervised and helped a group of volunteers to construct them. He also collected donations of $4,000 to cover the cost of the pavers. Thank you, Landon, for all your hard work - the signs look great - and congratulations on earning your Eagle Scout rating! Thanks also goes out to Parks Chairperson Bob McMahon for overseeing the project, village staff, and Rainbow Signs for the production and installation of the signs.

If You Like to Paddle, Join the Club!
A few months ago resident Krista Ruhnke took it upon herself to form a paddling club. It's important to paddle with a buddy and she needed one. So, she attended a McHenry County Conservation District talk about the Nippersink and at the end she addressed the large group to say she was starting a club. Nineteen people signed up that night and now the group is up to 40. Her goal is to have 100 members by the end of 2019 so she'd love to have you join them! View and join their Facebook group or call Krista at 815-701-8339 for more information.

Blast from the Past
This photo of Nick Nett's Garage was published in the 1932 Fox Valley Mirror. The caption states, "Here you will find expert mechanics, complete lubrication, a tow car and all that goes to make up fast, accommodating and reasonably priced service to the motorist..." Nick was a descendant of an early pioneer. Note the curbside gas pumps! A 1980s fire destroyed part of the building and the upper part of the facade was re-bricked. It is located at 1923 Main Street.
