Halloween Fall Photos
Nature's Feed, along with David Bublitz, is hosting a Halloween Fall Photo event for your fur kids!! Donations requested to benefit Helping Paws. FREE trick or treat goodie bag with every photo donation. Light Snacks will be offered. Photo Contest - Most likes on Facebook WINS a special gift!   Can't make it out this day...be sure to bring your pooch to Nature's Feed on Thursday, October 31 and receive a treat for a trick; okay, no trick is necessary, just come on by! Nature's Feed is located at 2440 Westward Dr, next to the Spring Grove Post Office.
Pancake Breakfast this Sunday!

Nerf War Time

Burning Regulations
Burning of landscape waste is allowed on the weekends in October and November with restrictions. View them here . Please consider other ways to dispose of yard waste, including composting, disposing of through Groot by purchasing landscape stickers or taking it to a landscape collection site like Thelen Sand and Gravel . Halloween Event at WLAC
Fun, family Halloween event at WLAC! Stop by Saturday, October 26 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM for lots of free and fun activities! Vehicle Stickers
The 2019-2020 vehicle sticker fee has now doubled to $40 per vehicle. If stickers are not purchased by November 1, tickets will be issued. The police will be making periodic subdivision checks to make sure stickers have been purchased for all vehicles and that they are being displayed properly. New residents have 30 days from the time they move in to purchase stickers.
Fall Painting Class this Friday
New Leaf Home Furnishings will be hosting a complimentary fall painting class on Friday, October 11 from 5:00-6:00 pm, presented by Jean Wilkinson. Light refreshments will be served. Space is limited. Please call 815-675-9700 to reserve a spot.

Fall Trout Fishing Opens at 7 AM
The Fall Trout Fishing Season will open next Saturday, October 19, at 7:00 AM at Hatchery Park. Anyone attempting to take trout before the season opening will be issued citations. A valid fishing license and Inland Trout Stamp are required, except for those under 16, blind or disabled, or an Illinois resident on leave from active duty from the Armed Forces. Blast from the Past
Frank Orvis was the son of early homesteaders, Samuel Orvis & Levina Sanborn who's homestead was located on Wilmot Road. When Frank grew up, he first taught school at the old English Prairie schoolhouse. On February 1, 1906 he purchased a printing press and started the Spring Grove Journal which was located at 7708 Blivin Street. Subscriptions were $1 a year. The paper continued until at least October 31, 1908 with Frank as the editor. In 1909 he was employed by the railroad and was killed on July 21, 1909 in a railroad accident in "Shermerville" which is the present day Northbrook. He was 33 years old.
